Sonic new it was around his Birthday. Vaguely. Move around planets enough and its hard to track the date, he had a birthday not too far from when he arrived on Earth. So the BEarthday was very fitting. And, well, Shadow woke up from cyro the same day or day after, so Sonic figured he could share it with his Shadow.

But also explaining that to people would be weird, and telling WAY too much, and also Primedow and SonIDW had their birthdays around the same time and that's why the banners say Birthday.

Sonic was nothing, if not stupidly sentimental. He knew he was throwing a party for his Shadow because he deserved it and well, he isn't going to just ignore the others. Maybe talk about a week of celebration or something for next year.

The beauty of superspeed though is he can set up a party FAST. He just has to make sure Big Blue is busy upstairs for a few minutes and BOOM, party is set up.

First and foremost, the party is an explosion of color. Why? Sonic promised Primedow and SonIDW pride flags and he delivered. There are rainbows and all sorts of other flags scattered across the yard, on the walls, and over the first floor. He's even got balloons over pride flag colors.

There was a banner that said 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHADOWS AND SONICS!' Hand painted, so its a bit messy, and made with blue, red, and black.

There is SO much food. Most of it is cake and chilidogs. Mostly because Sonic knows how much Sonics can pack away, and other people should get to enjoy these foods. There is even a variety in the cake flavors! Chocolate, white, strawberry, even lemon.

There is also coffee beans. Just....just straight coffee beans.

And some chocolate covered espresso beans, and Tiramisu. Less of that, but still plenty. And burgers for those who think hotdogs are beneath them or something.

There is also fruit salad, and guacamole with chips for those who want something kind of healthy.

There is a table labeled GIFTs and a sign. 'Be sure you indicate WHICH Shadow or Sonic. Fluffy are the younger ones.'

The party activities are scattered in the yard and the first floor of the house. Its nothing too over the top, beyond the color explosion. There is music for outside hanging out, some dancing. There is also a television for people to play video games on. (There will be DDR at some point, thanks Eva.)

Inside, there is a large stack of DVDs to watch movies inside.

There are board games on the dining room table for people to play those.

There is also a sign at the stairs to the second floor. 'RESIDENTS ONLY. If someone is upstairs, you leave them alone, even if they're one of the Birthday Boys! Any non-resident attempting to go upstairs if not accompanied by a resident will be swiftly removed.' (He figures he should account for social batteries. Especially for his Shadow and Maria. Sometimes you need a space to retreat away from people.)

He nods. "Pride is a celebration on my Earth because humans are really dumb about sexuality and gender so like the past...I dunno, a bunch of decades, the LGBT+ take over June with a bunch of parades and events and celebrations and its a rainbow explosion all over the place, at least if the place is cool. Basically telling the jerk people they're here and deserve to exist and proud to be who they are," he said. "And you can absolutely have one, I cannot keep all these flags, I'll just start sticking them in random places in the city until there is a more reasonable amount."

"Its good to have fruits and veggies. For the health conscious. And you know, tastes good," he said. "Even if not as good as chilidogs." He has his priorities. "You're free to take some with you. I wanted people to have plenty."

Because he gets what its like to be food insecure. It took months for him to be okay with food waste. (And okay, maybe he overcompensated for that one party of two while Tom and Maddie were in Hawaii, but he was dealing with separation anxiety. Going full party mode mess was his attempt at coping instead of going on a spiral if they were going to just decide to stay in Hawaii.) "Only as much as you want though, Sonic and I will work through the leftovers way before anything goes bad."

Speed takes a lot of fuel. But he didn't want Silver to take more than he could eat on his own because he was worried about it going bad.

"Hey, hey, its no worries," Sonic said, reaching over to pat his shoulder. "Turn those quills up. Just being here is enough. Its nice to see people care and want to spent time with us, especially since this was a little last minute. I don't think any of us are that fussed about presents. Sonic and older Shadow didn't even know I was doing this, and my Shadow is less used to presents than me, so really any presents are just a nice surprise."

Silver cocked his head slightly as he listened to Sonic explain about Pride. He'd never heard of any such thing from his own dimension. He didn't know any humans to really judge, but he's sure he'd never heard about any dissension (or celebrations) regarding this sexuality and gender thing on any news he'd seen. Maybe humans on this Sonic's world were just different than his. He personally didn't think anything was amiss. Let people love who they want right? He did snicker at the thought of Sonic covering the city in left-over flags though.

"I-I can even take some food too?" His gold eyes were wide. Sharing food and resources was kind of a Big Deal and this version of Sonic hadn't even known him when he had first arrived in this world. He...was honestly speechless! "I'll make it up to you I promise!" Anything he could do in exchange for such a thing, he'd only be too happy to do. So far, he hadn't had that much difficulty with making sure he had food here in Ellipsa. But even here, he was always careful not to be wasteful or get more than he needed.

His quills perked up slightly at the pat to his shoulder and reassurance and he gave a small smile. "I had no idea about the whole gift thing. I'll remember for next time though!" He munched on another guac covered chip. "I'm really grateful for being invited." Parties were just a fun way to be around people having fun, and he liked that. "I still have to pick a birthday for myself! Maybe in the fall or something..."

Ask him, you idiot!

Silver looked down at his plate as he thought (not for the first time), about just throwing caution to the wind and just asking if he could be Sonic's room mate. Between the anonymous chat on the network and now, it had been running through his mind constantly. Most people on the network seemed encouraging at the idea.

There was some suspicion. Sonic's seen apocalypse movies, he knows the resource scramble and how similar it was to his own experiences. Except he had the advantage of the grocery stores being restocked regularly. He just had to make sure he wasn't seen by anyone.

He played it like a game a few times. Zombie apocalypse mode, gotta be quick and quiet or alert the undead horde! Or rather, be discovered and hunted down by a persistent government. It was more fun to pretend he was in a horror action movie. Easier to deal with.

He can see the gratitude and how familiar it was to how much he didn't have to worry about food in Green Hills.

He reaches out and squeezes Silver's shoulders. "You never have to pay me back for food," he said, seriously. "Just enjoy it."

Then he smiles and lets go. "It's a party! No one should leave hungry. Providing stuff is my gift to you guys for coming."

"Fall is a pretty time. And a good time to have a big blow out in a lot of ways." That's the last time to collect perishable food since it's nonperishables for Winter. "Not too hot, not too cold, getting a lot of fruits and veggies, it's great. And a party is fun. Gives great energy." He gets some of the fruit salad himself, popping a strawberry into his mouth.

He told his head as Silver looks down. Oh, that's a thinky face if he saw one. "....no pressure though? You okay?"
