Something Old, Something New

Part 1
March 21st

Nightwake is buzzing with excitement. The Dragon Lord, Opallios, has sent a proxy to Nightwake. This young dragon is an ivory colored, medium sized dragon, perfect for mingling with regular people. After a meeting with the guild leaders, the dragon addresses everyone with a booming voice, almost like it's coming from loudspeakers throughout the city.

"Otherworlders", he says. "My name is Einnainth and I'm here on the behalf of the Dragon Lord. You have been invited to the Abandoned Castle by Lord Opallios. We have worked hard to repurpose the place into sanctuary for all dragons and power holders. There, you may participate in a ritual to unlock completely new powers with our help. If you wish to hear details, I will be at the Solarpeak Beach."

The same message is also send to each device, just in case someone missed the announcement.

Those who come to meet Einnainth can see him enjoying affectionate pets from the local children. He will be explain that it was finally time to entrust ancient power holder magic to the otherworlders, as well as the four guild leaders. Dragons have always been the guardians of the powers so it was their duty to pass it on when the time was right.

He also requests to get some supplies for the castle, such as wood and stone, if they're able to spare them. They still have a lot of work to be done in the castle. While they can fix most things with magic, just conjuring materials from thin air is very taxing.

Part 2
(March 22nd onwards)

New teleport crystals have been installed near the Abandoned Castle. All of the four guilds have counterparts for quick travel. Of course otherworlders are allowed to travel to the castle however they want. The crystals lead to a gazebo; those arriving from the summer and spring guilds end up near the summer side entrance, while autumn and winter arrive at the autumn side. It doesn't matter which side someone ends up in, as both entrances lead into the same area.

Those who have visited the Abandoned Castle before can notice a huge change. The walls that separated the two sides before have been knocked down. The only thing separating them is the way they're decorated and their general architecture: summer side is made more of stone and has no furniture or decorations left, while the autumn side has warm, wooden tones and plenty of dusty furniture and decorations in autumn colors.

Dragons have brought in plenty of moss and other soft natural materials for people to sit on. Their own sleeping quarters are in the rooms or outside on the roof. Peeking into them will reveal some of them have started hoarding different things in the middle of their rooms. Leaving them something they collect will result in the dragon becoming their friend.

There's plenty of time to socialize with the dragons before the main event begins. Plenty of berries, vegetables and fruit have been gathered for anyone to eat. Some dragons even have meat and fish.

Part 3

Once everyone is gathered and settled down, Opallios makes an appearance. He's larger than most of the dragons present, white with gold accents. Many might remember him from the Frozen Falls.

"Welcome, everyone. We have gathered you here to help you unlock ancient abilities that we have been safekeeping. These powers are more difficult to master and some of them are even dangerous. However, we have full fate in you, hence why we are ready to pass the powers back into your hands."

He explains that the ritual will happen in special mindscapes, shaped by their minds. It will done in pairs and there's no rush. They can work on the unlocking as long as they need. No one has to do this right now either, as the dragons will remain here and help them anytime they want.

After that, he conjures very old-looking parchments from the air for everyone. They have a list of abilities they're about to unlock, written by the people of old.

Between the Truths and Lies

Part 1

The ritual to unlock the powers starts off simple. There are several small fires in the main room set up. Otherworlders are tasked with finding a partner and then sitting with them by one of them. However, the dragons warn that the more familiar the partner they choose is, the more dangerous the ritual would be. It's better to pick someone who they aren't so deeply bonded with for this.

Once the pair has settled down, one of the dragons approaches them. Next step is to hold hands or otherwise form a physical contact and close their eyes. The dragon will then breathe out a veil of mist that surrounds them. It feels comfortable, making it easier to relax. Slowly, the physical world starts feeling more distant.

Suddenly the pair will feel like they're floating. If they open their eyes they will be greeted with clear blue skies and a vast meadow they're about to gently land on. However, the moment they land the scenery changes; the scenery shifts according to what fits their states of mind. It splits neatly into half, one side for each person.

The state of mind can be visualized in different ways. Someone who has no problems or burdens may just have the same meadow with the blue skies while those with heavy burdens may have an approaching storm on the horizon. The meadow could also be withered and gray instead of the lush bright green, or even on fire.

Even if the two would have similar minds, there are still obvious changes. However if the pair is very close to one another the scenery will seem like it fits together seamlessly, no matter how different their minds are. They even have the risk of melding completely together, which can end up with both of them dead. They have to be constantly focusing on their sense of self to keep the two mindscapes separate. Whenever they stop doing so they will feel it as an ache all over their body.

Part 2

Several different colored energy lines travel across the mindscapes. All of them have a different purpose. The bright golden ones are their touch energy, which are currently actively burning. Other colors vary between what season they represent; blue for winter, pink for spring, green for summer and orange for autumn. They have several different shades, representing all kinds of different abilities. Those with special powers from home will also notice an energy line for them.

The pair must follow the right colored lines through a variety of different landscapes; forests, mountains, rivers, and so on. Their lines follow the same path; straight in the middle of the two mindscapes. There's even a chance of enemy counters (representing enemies from home or from Ellipsa), depending on just how dark their state of mind is. All of their powers, seasonal or otherwise, work here so they are able to fight the enemies off. Dying means failing the ritual, injuries will reflects as unpleasant pain for a while after.

At the end of the lines they will find a wall with a gate. Only by touching the gate at the same time will it open and behind it they will find several illusions of themselves. Approaching them will have them tell them something that is either a complete lie or the absolute truth about the person.

Their next task is to find the ones that tell the truth. Accepting the truths, no matter how unpleasant, will the the person absorb energy; this energy will feel like they're unlocking something new. Denying the truth will break the mindscape around them, causing cracks. Too many cracks will completely break it down, waking them up from the mindscape and ending the ritual in a failure.

Accepting a lie as the truth will also result in absorbing energy, but this energy will result in a minor injury in the real body and feels unpleasant.

The amount of accepted truths needed to unlock the abilities varies between each person, but there has to be at least five different ones. These can be just simple things like "he has brown hair" or "she sucks at karaoke", but also truths they necessarily don't want anyone to find out.

Optionally, characters can also capture a floating ball of energy inside the gate that will unlock the ability to do emotion magic. However, this can either be completely ignored or just unnoticed.

Part 3

After the pair has gathered all the possible energy, they are ready to wake up again. To do this, they must join their hands together and focus on the physical feeling of their own bodies. Their mind starts feeling more distant and eventually, they can feel like they're sitting once again.

The dragons congratulate them on their success and offer to tell them all about their season's abilities in more detail. Some even enthusiastically tell them all about emotion magic that may become something like a wildcard for them in battles.

People can redo the ritual with others, should they wish to help them unlock these abilities as well. However, they do not gain anything by doing it (unless they missed the emotional magic part) - other than possibly a deeper connection with the other person.

Do You Remember When Days Were Like That?

Part 1

With all this excitement, don't forget that all around the city, the End-of-Winter Festival is in full swing! Ever since long ago, this festival has been a cultural mainstay to say goodbye to winter and bring in spring (on the calendar, at least, since the seasons all stay in their places).

In every district, there are bonfires set up here and there. They're all in places far from the centre and away from anything particularly flammable, for the sake of anyone uncomfortable with fire -- but they're all festival hubs for people to gather. Just like last year, all the traditional activities are back: dressing in costumes and masks to symbolize winter and spring; singing and dancing around the fire; dramatic improvised plays where people are asked to act out a battle between winter and spring; and, of course, the pancake breakfasts! Thanks to the recent quests, most of them even have real maple syrup instead of the cheap golden corn syrup in the packet. Or berry syrup, if you're not into maple.

The jellycats (cats that have jelly-like shells protecting them. The shells wiggle everytime they purr and they can retreat back into them whenever they're uncomfortable) also make another appearance, staring at anyone eating pancakes and hoping they'll share a bite. They come in various colors and scents (each jellycat smells different to different people). The scent becomes stronger the more a jellycat likes and trusts a person.

Part 2

The traditional festivities aren't the only festivities this time around. After a very successful showing at last year's Arts Festival, the fanclubs of assorted otherworlders who have become minor or major celebrities through quests, missions, or even just plain social media presence are back. Not just that, but they've gotten serious and have opened an Otherworlder Fan Merch Store down a side street in Nightwake near one of the festival hubs.

They've certainly gone all out, even compared to when they just had festival merch booths. Otherworlders can find themselves on all kinds of merchandise like buttons, keychains, mugs, art prints, acrylic stands, and even 3D mouse pads and body pillow covers. Further back in the store are more esoteric goods. How many people are buying collector plates with the city's heroes on them? Who would buy a wallet with their face on it? Pasta shapes in a can?! Someone's gotten creative.

Past a curtain (wait, no, that's a shower curtain with life-sized images of characters, also available for sale), there's a section advertising "Unauthorized Biographies." Flipping through the comics and novels, one thing is clear -- this is the doujin section. How much of a market is there for RPF of the otherworlders? It's not even all dirty; at least half of these are coffee shop AUs shipping people with their friends or overly personal gushing about the time the subject of the story saved the author during a quest or a time monsters got into the city.

Part 3

The Amberfall Library doesn't have a bonfire (for obvious reasons), but it's also running as an event hub of a different sort. Following the Dragon Lord's announcement, they've brought up some archived books for people to peruse about the old days of the now unsealed season magic.

There aren't very many, owing to how long ago it was, but a few still remain. The biggest feature is a book of short stories, where two specific stories are bookmarked.

In "The Tale of Spring and Autumn," two lovers on a mission, a Spring and an Autumn power user, find a massive and powerful monster beyond description that threatens their home. Pushed to the brink, the Spring mage increases her own magic over and over, disregarding her own safety, to wound the monster gravely, but the overuse of that ability turns her into a tree, and the monster knocks the tree down. The Autumn mage breaks down in a fit of grief and uses her wood powers to kill the monster with the wood of the tree.

In "The Tale of Winter and Summer," a Summer power user is guarding a Winter exorcist when they come upon a spirit searching for help. The Winter channels them to fulfill their last wish to save their town from the pirates that killed them, but the spirit turns out to be lying and is actually a ghost pirate themself, and the Winter struggles and ultimately fails to take back his body from the ghost. The Summer, seeing the rest of the ghost crew gaining on them, causes a landslide with a magical explosion.

Thankfully, they're not all that depressing. Any would-be scholars can read gathered information about their new abilities, though these ancient sources might not always be the easiest to parse.

And as a festival activity, the library has also provided paper and writing utensils for attendees to write about what season magic means to them. They can be anything the writer wants and will be posted up in the library for the duration of the event!

Hell no--

[Is what Katsuki manages to get out in a reply to Boothill's question, of if he'd considered using his Season powers instead of his Quirk. Of course he doesn't mind using it to supplement his Quirk, but it's out of the question to stop using his Quirk altogether. Both arms in use or not.

And he feels a tinge bit of excitement when enemies begin to appear on Boothill's side. He can finally show Boothill just what his Quirk was capable of doing, and why he's so stubborn about using it. It's not just something he's comfortable with-- it's incredibly powerful, and he had only just started to unlock it's true potential.]

Gotcha'. I'll wipe all of 'em out.

[Katsuki gets on the move, then. Running to the right, for a couple of grunts who were separated from the group just enough. He gets their attention, and drags them even further to the right, luring them far enough away to feel comfortable using a large explosion. He then stands still, his left arm held out in front of him and hand clenching as he activates his Quirk.

And he waits until the two grunts get within a couple of feet before letting off a big explosion, to destroy them as much as possible. It's thankfully aimed in the complete opposite direction from Boothill and the rest, so no casualties here!]

[Despite the distance, Boothill felt the heat of the explosion and his shark grin only widened as he stared down the Senior Staff. He held his hat in place, hair flying before quick drawing his gun and firing in rapid succession at the mech. The big lug stumbled back and Boothill ran forward, leg high in the air it and the spur came crashing down on the thing.]

I didn't say I'd count to three!

[He bounced away as the mech tried to call for reinforcements. But it would fail as its head was blown clean off by the muzzle now coming out of the palm of his hand, the revolver in his forearm clicking the hammer back into place.]

When it's time to shoot, quit yappin'.

[He then turned to see how Bakugo was faring and if he would need some help. Boothill had a feeling it wouldn't be necessary, if even that explosion from just one arm was anything to go by. No wonder the kid didn't want to give up using his Quirk.]

[Boothill's robot body is so cool....... Katsuki catches glimpses of him fighting and using his weapons built into his body, and all he thinks about is how cool he's going to be once he's got a new arm. Even if he's not able to use his Quirk in that hand, it'd be fun to have something like a gun.....

Katsuki himself is fairing well, for the most part. Taking out the grunts in small numbers, with all kinds of explosions. This was really good training for him, as he could go completely all out on these guys without worry of destroying them or the place around them. His Quirk was still evolving, and he wanted to learn more about how it worked... and putting himself in danger like this always tends to bring more out of his Quirk.

Though he still only has the one arm, and his Quirk works a bit like a gun in itself. He can't just keep spamming explosions over and over-- there's a second in between where he "loads" the bullet (aka gathers sweat in his hand) and then shoots. There's recoil every time he shoots off an explosion, too, and after a few too many of them his arm will start to ache and get tired.

For now, he's fine on the firing front, but there's a moment where a few more grunts suddenly join in on his fight and he finds himself surrounded. And he's very aware that he'll only be able to take out about half of them.]

Ah, shit--

[Katsuki looks over at Boothill, in time to catch his gaze and he gives him this look that asks for backup.]
forkeroni: (003)

[personal profile] forkeroni 2025-04-01 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
Forkin' hell. Ain't no reasonin' with you bunch.

[Boothill scowled, quickly reloading his gun as he ran toward the now surrounded teen. Where the hell were they even coming from? Usually once the big guy goes down, the rest scatter. Tch, then again, this was all in their heads, right?

Whatever, just because his life was gonna always be about fighting the IPC didn't mean he was gonna let Bakugo get caught up in it. Even with his hands still moving, his leg was up and down quickly and efficiently, spur going right into the next of one grunt before he was bending backward and his gun was firing at the grunt just behind him. He was still quite perfectly balanced on that one leg, too.

Then, he was upright and the second gun in his hand was out, quick firing at the rest of the half Bakugo left him and swiftly dodging spears and bullets that came his way with a grin and a holler.]

C'mon y'all, let's duel fair an' square!

[But, was it really fair? A cyborg cowboy with a mean shot and a teenager who could create explosions with his sweat? Probably not, but this is the time to feel alive.

Soon, this particular wave seemed to finally dissipate, and the field was littered with bullet casings, fallen grunts, and more explosions marring the land. Boothill blew out the smoke from the barrel of his gun before placing it back into its holster. He adjusted his hat.]

How we doin', kid?
boombam: (17720112)

[personal profile] boombam 2025-04-02 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
[Boothill was so cool--

Katsuki keeps close to the other when he joins the fray, but not in the way as the two finish off their grunts. Katsuki using smaller, pin-pointed explosions in the form of beams of fire to pick his enemies off one by one.

Once the two were finished, and the mindscapes were silent again, Katsuki relaxes and lets himself catch his breath. Clenching his left hand a few times to stretch it out a bit.]

I'm fine... thanks to you saving my ass.

[He's got a few scratches here and there, but nothing more than that. And nothing that needs any kind of medical attention, or would threaten the integrity of his mindscape.]

...You're really cool.

[Katsuki can't help but say it. Boothill gives off every vibe of a Pro Hero and Katsuki just thinks he's so neat. His red eyes are sparkling in admiration, a little bit.]

[personal profile] forkeroni 2025-04-04 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
[Boothill hadn't expected the sudden admiration. He cleared his throat with a chuckle.]

O' course, kid. Even heroes need helpin'.

[Boothill looked out at his half of the mindscape, the broken and burnt homes. Were his people still on those puny reservations or did they finally leave too? Boothill never went back to check, his home was gone. Long gone and never coming back. He sighed and nodded back towards those energy lines.]

We oughtta get movin' before more of those shirtbags show up.

[The rest of the walk was much the same after that. Some room to breathe, to chitchat, before another wave was upon them. This time, it was on Bakugo's side and he called them nomu and they were nothing short of zombies, basically. Guess it was also universal that the way to kill them was the same as any other.

Aim for the head.

Good thing theirs was so easy to target, it was almost laughable. They continued on walking once done and Boothill could see the door in the distance. He casually reloaded his guns as they walked.]

Looks like we're finally reachin' the end. Forkin' finally!
boombam: (17719491)

[personal profile] boombam 2025-04-05 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
[Katsuki expected the Nomu to show up eventually, so when they did he was quick to tell Boothill of their weakness and to start fighting. Blowing up as many heads as possible, if not just whole bodies. The whole time he kept thinking to himself "I can't wait for my new arm" while watching Boothill fight from the corner of his eye, excited at the new possibilities a robotic limb will give him.

Once the two were finished, they finally make the rest of the trek up to the large gate. And as they approach, Katsuki can feel goosebumps rise on his forearms. This was the real challenge, now. Hearing what those doppleganger versions of himself had to say. He was curious how easy it was going to be for Boothill to accept his truths. Or if he was more stubborn and embarrassed to, like Katsuki.]

The final battle is ahead of us. We're about to be faced with clones. A lot of clones. And they're each gonna say some bullshit that'll either be a truth you probably don't wanna hear, or a really stupid lie.

[Katsuki braces himself, visibly anxious and when they get to the large door he reaches with his left hand to touch it. And nods at Boothill to do the same.]
forkeroni: @blorbos (007)

[personal profile] forkeroni 2025-04-05 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
[A battle of the mind, eh? Boothill certainly wasn't looking forward to the prospects of clones of himself speaking truths. But Boothill also wasn't one to lie himself. That didn't mean he wanted to hear some of the truths that he was likely to hear but he steeled (heh) himself and placed his hand on the door on his side and soon, it opened.

He blinked at the myriads of himself and Bakugo that greeted them.]

Holy forkeroni... you wasn't kiddin'.

[Not all of the Boothills were actually cybernetic. Some were full fleshed versions of himself, slightly darker but still him. Others he was partially cybernetic. The process of making himself the way he was hadn't been done in one night, after all. One of them stepped forward.]

You used to have a daughter.

[Boothill scowled and his jaw clenched.]

Yeah, and? What of it?

[Well, he wasn't denying it.]
boombam: (17719058)

[personal profile] boombam 2025-04-05 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
[Katsuki takes in a deep breath when the gate opens, and all the clones of the two of them appear. It's a bit nightmarish for him to see all these versions of himself, standing and staring stoically at him with their piercing red glare. It makes his skin crawl, and he wishes he could just blow them all up and have that work instead of this stupid mind game bullshit.

He steps in, after Boothill and watches as the other is approached by a less cybernetic version of himself. The truth that ends up being spoken has him freeze in place, and look up at Boothill to study his reaction. And when Boothill doesn't deny it, it makes something tug sharply at Katsuki's heart. "Used" to have a daughter...]

...no wonder you're all about revenge.

[He doesn't need to pry to assume something must have happened with this daughter of Boothill's. And.. he's not sure if he should say any more than he already has.

The truths are going to be this tough right out the gate, huh?]
forkeroni: @blorbos (008)

[personal profile] forkeroni 2025-04-05 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
Tch.

[That was an understatement. He nodded back to the divided mindscape behind them.]

The IPC're the ones that did that to my home. So, yeah, is it any forkin' wonder.

[The last bit was said in a drawn out drawl, as another of his clones stepped forward. Boothill was already starting to hate this. Was it really worth new powers for this kind of bull? It was creepy and stupid.]

You could have put a stop to it.

Oh, like hell I could! [So, a lie this time. He growled before looking at Bakugo.] You weren't kiddin'. The lies really are stupid. How long do I gotta put up with this?
boombam: (on top of an ironic guillotine)

[personal profile] boombam 2025-04-05 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
[Katsuki bites his tongue, holding back the urge to say "I'm sorry". Knowing it would just be empty, compared to whatever it was that Boothill had gone through. The "lie" that's spoken only seems to rub salt into that wound, too... jeez.]

As long as this place wants you to. Last time, I had to accept about ten stupid truths before it would end.

[Speaking of-- a version of Katsuki approaches the two of them now. Staring Katsuki down with such an intense glare that he usually only saves for the worst of the worst.]

"You love to sing."

[Katsuki raises an eyebrow. Something embarrassing to admit, but not nearly as intense as Boothill's first truth. Somehow, it has him feeling unsettled and worried for future truths..]

...yeah, I do. You got a problem with that?

[Of course, the clone doesn't respond and instead disappears as his first truth is accepted.]
forkeroni: (002)

[personal profile] forkeroni 2025-04-05 02:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[Boothill's eyebrows shot up and he looked over at the teen. He didn't look amused or anything, he was genuinely surprised.]

Really?

[He wasn't teasing in the slightest, it was a genuine question with some genuine curiosity in it. Along with a hint of a smile in that scowl he just had.]
boombam: (17719102)

[personal profile] boombam 2025-04-06 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
[Katsuki can feel his face heat up a little at Boothill's surprised expression and curiousity. He can tell that he's genuinely wondering and not teasing, at least, so begrudgingly he nods.]

...y-yeah. Sometimes.

[He spends a lot of time alone, so sometimes he takes advantage of that to do things like sing to himself...]

Doesn't everybody?
forkeroni: @blorbos (008)

[personal profile] forkeroni 2025-04-09 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
Dunno 'bout everybody, I certainly did when I-

You sang all the time with Papa Graey when out ridin' with him.

It was Papa Nick, get it right!

[Boothill huffed, crossing his arms. He didn't look embarrassed at all for outing himself, either. Another Boothill stepped forward once the other disappeared.]

You can still use the harmonica. [Boothill nodded.] Sure can, guitar too.
boombam: (17719063)

[personal profile] boombam 2025-04-09 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
[..oh. Boothill likes to sing too? That automatically makes Katsuki feel a lot less embarrassed, since he still admires the cowboy so much. And he perks up as more clones approach the two of them.]

I can play the drums, too. Took classes as a kid because my parents--

You're favourite colour is pink.

[That was a lie, and it earns a DEEP glare from Katsuki as he corrects himself.]

Orange.

[Poof!! But here comes another one--]

You love it when adults praise you by ruffling your hair.

[Now that one is true, but it has Katsuki too flustered to accept it immediately.]

Why so specific?!
forkeroni: @blorbos (009)

[personal profile] forkeroni 2025-04-09 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
...

[...well. Boothill took advantage almost immediately with Bakugo's flustered state to reach over and ruffle the blond hair. He was mindful of how much weigh to put into his hand considering it was all metal and honestly, he could feel none of the hair. But, he wanted to see the reaction.]
boombam: (17719105)

1/2

[personal profile] boombam 2025-04-09 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
[For a split second, Katsuki just stands there and allows himself to be pet like a cat because.. well. He does enjoy it....]
boombam: (17719353)

[personal profile] boombam 2025-04-09 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
HANDS OFF!

[But it's ONLY for a split second, before he swats at Boothill and glares at him. With his face completely red all the way to the tips of his ears. Meanwhile his clone still stands and waits, staring at him like he's some kind of idiot....]

Heheh.

[He can't help but chuckle, taking his hands away as bidden. Then, he nodded to the clone waiting.]

C'mon boy, you gotta answer.

[It may have started out pretty dark, but at least the last couple were downright stupid and hilarious. Not that Boothill wanted to jinx himself by thinking that, but it was still better than thinking about his dead family.]

[Katsuki growls at Boothill in response, when he's told to answer. But then he looks at his clone.. and sighs. Alright, fine.]

...o-okay. Yeah. I like it! Whatever!!

[His voice is very high pitched and cracks, and he glares at his clone as it disappears. Asshole!!! Though it's true at least that the lies were more silly at this point.. but they could sneak up on you at any moment. Katsuki is definitely guarded now as they continue forward. Angry and annoyed, but also a little proud of himself for not denying that last truth as much as he wanted to.]

[Boothill really tried not to laugh. Not at Bakugo, just at the situation. This was honestly so ridiculous, even if it had started out pretty dark. How much longer was thing going to go on for, anyway?

It seemed the last Boothill clone was going to step forward and he braced himself for what was going to be said.]

You say you prefer workin' solo, jus' like all Galaxy Rangers do, but yer actually very lonely. Fightin' with the Astral Express reminded ya of yer family.

[Boothill's eyes widened a bit and he pursed his lips, raising his hand to tilt his hat down a little.]

Yeah, well... a family man can recognize another family. That ain't a fudgin' crime. But what I'm doin' would be less dangerous if I don't got someone to worry 'bout. I can handle the solo life. [The clone still didn't go away, and Boothill sighed.] Yeah, okay, I feel lonely. But I ain't gonna join the Astral Express. My path is bein' a Galaxy Ranger an' I'm stickin' to it, no matter what.

[That seemed satisfactory enough as the clone disappeared and Boothill growled a little, the sound of it was a little distorted and more mechanical sounding that usual and he crossed his arms.]

[Ah.. admitting that you're lonely isn't easy, and Katsuki knows this. He knows how it hurts his own pride to admit something like that, so he doesn't pry into that feeling of loneliness.

He does, however, want to ask a little about Boothill and his life. He's so mysterious and Katsuki just heard a lot of names of things he doesn't understand.]

...what's the Astral Express? Sounds like a train.

That's 'cause it is.

[Boothill looked over at his teen companion.]

They travel the galaxy on the star rail that the Aeon of the Trailblaze, Akivili, set down a long time ago. The crew calls themselves the Nameless, although another name for 'em are Trailblazers since that's the Path the Aeon was known for. Most people in my world usually follows a Path that one of the Aeon's created. I follow the Hunt, all Galaxy Rangers do. Aeon's're kinda like gods, I guess you could say.
