Event #12 - The Puzzling Ruins

The Puzzling Ruins
LOGS | NETWORK | OOC | MEMES | NAVIGATION
The message about the new mission comes as a private message to all the otherworlders, rather than a public one. Attached is an explanation of the mission: a trip to the recently discovered ruins in the Deserter's Desert. It's meant to be a full recon mission, but they're prepared for possible fighting as well. The mission starts on January 17th, at the edge of Deserter's Desert (full GPS coordinates included).
There are no big public preparations this time, but a simple request to reply to the message to receive a quick delivery of desert-appropriate gear. The fairy delivery service will explain the reason for the secrecy and wish them good luck. Apparently they (the guild leaders) are still wary of whoever might be spying on their missions.
Joining them at the edge of the Deserter's Desert is Jade, the Spring Guild Leader. Usually guild leaders handle their 'own' Segment, but Jade hadn't gotten a chance to go on a completely solo adventure with the new power holders yet so she asked to be included.
Now that they were all gathered for the mission, Jade explains that they discovered a signal coming from recently discovered ruins. The signal is believed to be for a portal gun. They're fully prepared to walk into a trap, so the gear everyone received is equipped with an emergency teleport system to get them out. It should bypass at least similar technology to the ones they saw at the mines.
The journey through the desert takes a whole day. That's why everyone's desert-appropriate gear (tm) includes an umbrella that keeps the person cool on breaks (to be placed on the ground), plenty of water, goggles to shield eyes from the sand, a hat to shield them from the sun and a lot of sunscreen. Jade also brought items to help them in the ruins, such as flashlights and rope.
Everyone is free to choose their traveling method, but there's also a group of Lover Camels waiting for the adventurers. Lover Camels look mostly like normal camels, but they have heart shaped fringes and tail tip. They're also known for their matchmaking skills! Most of them only move if there's two people on the saddle, even if it's almost too small for two. Better sit very close to each other! (If Jade is asked why these camels, she will explain they were the only ones available while giggling a little.)
Lover Camels are also very quirky. Sometimes they stop entirely until its riders either hold hands or hug each other properly on its back. The more the people riding it get along, the better it obeys orders. Those who bicker and argue may end up having their camels just lay down on the sand.
At least riders will get some good touch energy for the journey ahead!
The ruins are hard to spot from afar, but as the group gets closer, the more structures made from stone they see. Eventually they arrive to a place with multiple entrances to somewhere inside the ruins. Jade explains that the place has been checked for those weird panels, but they haven't found them here. That doesn't mean they should lower their guard.
First priority is to set up a camp, just in case they take a long time to explore the ruins. Everyone is provided with Temporary Luxury Tent Spells for the mission, which will make an ordinary tent into a luxury one (one found in Riki's Shop; A tent that is larger on the inside and stays the right temperature throughout the night. It shields users from all sorts of weather effects (except the ground literally breaking apart underneath)).
Adventurers are also asked to place barrier stones around the area, preferable before the ever-curious Cacti-cats arrive. While they're irresistibly cute, they can't hide their needles and will poke anything - and anyone - with them. The kittens especially will try to bump their heads on people's legs. If they're given something to eat, they will donate their flowers from their head. A cacti-cats flower is a very good source of nutrients when used in either drinks or food. Sadly they can't eat them so they often trade them for things they do eat.
Another 'danger' are the mummies that wander around the area. They are actually just skeletons wrapped in bandages and who will comically cover their genital area and run away if they're stripped off their bandages. They mostly attempt to wrap people in bandages to make them like mummies. There's luckily only a 30% chance of actually starting to act like a mummy if that happens.
The ruins have several entrances. The signal for the portal gun seems to be coming from all of them. Jade figures they might all lead to the same place or there are fake signals made to confuse them. Regardless, she hands everyone who's willing to go explore inside the ruins a small ring that will track the signal.
Finally, it's time to head inside the ruins. Jade tells everyone they must take a partner with them. No one is allowed to go in solo. She also admits that she's better suited to staying outside, to handle possible healing and calling for backup - but if someone were to call her, she would use the wind to get to them to help. She's also going to send messages through the wind to tell them of what is happening outside.
Now they have a choice to make as they head inside. All of the entrances look the same and there doesn't seem to be any magical or normal traps waiting for them. It's a dark corridor waiting for them and the only way forward is down the stairs.
As people head in, nothing happens. Thought there is definitely the feeling of someone or something watching them.
Every entrance will eventually lead into a labyrinth. Thankfully, this one definitely does not move like the one in the mines did. All of the entrances lead to a different part of it and then branches out in various directions. Some of the paths have traps, like poisonous arrows shooting from the wall if a certain tile is hit (and various other fun traps one might imagine), some don't have anything at all.
The labyrinth's walls are low enough for someone to climb or fly over them to cheat, but anyone who does so will be relentlessly chased by giant spiderbats (basically bats with multiple eyes and legs). They will attempt to spin the cheaters into cocoon made out of their silk and deliver them outside the ruins. It's a very sturdy cocoon so it might take some time for anyone to help them out of it. Both the spiderbats and their silk are resistant to fire.
The signal ring helps a little in where to go, as following it will eventually bring people to an artifact. There are six different ones: lion, hydra (multi-headed snake), hind (a female deer), boar, ox and bird. Examining them will only tell people that they're somehow magical and that it's an obvious trap. Trying to move it without touching it doesn't work at all and trying to destroy it will only reflect attacks back.
Anyone who touches one of these artifacts will be transported away from the labyrinth. In these places, a challenges await them.
All of the places start with a voiced message. "To win this challenge, you must find the right course of action. Violence is not always the answer. Look around you for clues." Calling to the voice yields no results and it doesn't appear again, unless someone does the task again.
The Lion
Setting: A broken coliseum, filled with broken weapons, armor and dried up blood. A giant, 10 meters/32'8' feet tall lion looms over the arena.
Objective: Defeat the lion. The lion will only stop at death.
The Hydra
Setting: An empty village that's been damaged very badly. There's no one there, just abandoned houses being further destroyed by the multi-headed snake.
Objective: Defeat the Hydra. Cutting off its heads will make it grow more heads unless they're somehow blocked from growing (for example, encased in ice or burned from the spot).
The Hind
Setting: A dense forest that has a herd of deer living in it. Only a few of them are special deer needed for the mission.
Objective: Find and separate a golden hooved deer. Hurting any of the deer will get the person disqualified. Successfully getting a golden hooved deer alone will give them the prize from the deer.
The Boar
Setting: A village below a hill. It's in danger of being destroyed because a herd of boars, all as large as the houses, are running down the hill.
Objective: Stop the boars. Violence can be used or people can choose to just alter their course.
The Ox
Setting: A rather dirty stable of giant animals. Includes oxes, cows, horses, goats and sheep.
Objective: Clean the stables while the animals are inside. Be careful not to get kicked. Once the areas are clean, they will find the prize.
The Bird
Setting: A temple that worships birds (various different kind of birds, some as large as swans) and thinks of them as sacred beings. Unfortunately the birds are angry for some reason and are attacking in large groups.
Objective: Calm the birds or make them leave the area without killing any of them. Killing even one bird will get the person disqualified.
Those who succeed will receive a huge puzzle piece and get transported to the end of the room where the labyrinth is, to a great puzzle wall. It seems there are 120 pieces in the puzzle. Luckily, the tasks can be redone as many times as they like.
Those who fail in their task get transported back to the artifact and get hit by stun, making them unable to move their bodies (but they can talk) for five minutes.
Putting the puzzle pieces on the wall is quite a task. Some of them are high up, which can be bypassed by flying or using telekinesis. There's also the option to rock climb to the right spot.
Once finished the puzzle is about the six artifacts they discovered, lined in order. After all the pieces are done the door will open and reveal a room full of treasure. Gold, jewelry, silver tiaras. There's also a chance to acquire a brooch that will automatically transform into a weapon or a shield in battle when needed (there's enough of those to take home to friends as well).
But the main price is the portal gun on the pedestal at the end of the room. For some reason it can't be used, but the coordinates stuck on it are x999, y949. The only explanation is that the portal is open somewhere. It's best to take portal gun back to Jade and call the mission a success.
Summary of the prompts [ Click to Expand ]
Secret Desert Mission• Everyone gets a private message instead of a public one with an explanation of a trip to Deserter's Desert. Be prepared to possibly fight there too even though mostly it will be a recon mission.
• For anyone, who wants to participate; there's a simple request to reply to the message to receive a quick delivery of desert-appropriate gear. The gear includes an emergency teleport system.
• No big, public preparations this time because this is a more secret mission and guild leaders are still wary of anyone spying on their missions.
• Spring Guild Leader, Jade, who hasn't been on a solo adventure with the new power holders joins everyone at the edge of the desert.
• There's a signal coming from the ruins, it may be a portal gun, and this whole mission may be a trap (which is why there's the teleport system in the gear).
• Everyone is free to choose their traveling method!
• One option are Lover Camels, most of them only move when there are two riders on their saddles; sit close to each other, you might even have to hold hands or hug to get them continue moving later.
• ...But if you bicker and argue and don't get a long, the camel(s) will just lay down on the sand.
If Spiky Why Friend Shaped
• Eventually they arrive to a place with multiple entrances to somewhere inside the ruins.
• There doesn't seem to be any similar panels from the former labyrinth event, but no one should lower their guard.
• First things first: Time to set up camp!
• Everyone gets a Temporary Luxury Tent spell, these tents look normal but they are much larger on the inside!
• Everyone should also place barrier stones around the area
• and do that before Cacti-Cats arrive; they are adorable but they will even accidentally poke anyone and anything with their needles, that they can't hide.
• If you give food to the cats, they will give you their flowers which are very useful for food and drinks (but they can't eat their flowers themselves)
• Skeletons wrapped in bandages to look like mummies wander around, trying to wrap everyone into bandages but there's only 30% chance of starting to act like a mummy for anyone, who gets wrapped into them.
• Several entrances to the ruins and the portal gun signal is coming from... All of them?? Most of them may be fake signals to confuse everyone!
• Everyone willing to go explore them will get a signal tracking ring from Jade.
• No one is allowed to go alone, everyone must take a partner with them!
• Jade will stay outside to be a healer and back up caller but she can be called into the ruins too whenever anyone needs help there.
• Everyone head into a long, dark corridor -- no magical or normal traps anywhere so far - and the only way down is are long stairs into the darkness.
• But there is a feeling of someone or something watching them and everyone can feel it...
Not Another Labyrinth
• How many of you will actually say "NOT ANOTHER LABYRINTH!!!"
• But hey, at least it's not a game or a moving labyrinth this time!
• All the entrances lead to different paths, some are trapped (poisonous arrows or something else happening if you happen step or hit the tile to make it happen + come up with various other traps too) and some of them don't have nothing at all but no one knows that.
• Anyone can cheat by climbing or flying over the labyrinth but...
• ... they will get attacked by spiderbats, who are resistant to fire and their silk is resistant to it too.
• The spiderbats will try to spin the cheaters into a cocoon made of their silk to deliver them outside the ruins.
• Anyone can try to help those, who get attacked by them but it may take time to get them out of it.
• Following the signal ring will eventually lead to an artifact.
• Or well, one of the six different artifacts -- lion, hydra (multi-headed snake), hind (a female deer), boar, ox and bird
• All that is clear from them is that they're somehow magical and also obviously a trap!!
• They can't be moved without touching them (no, not even with any powers)
• And trying to destroy them will only reflect the attacks back to you or your company.
• Everyone who touches the artifacts will be teleported away from the labyrinth and into the real challenges of this event!
• 6 different challenges / quests / tasks / missions all in their own setting, that can be redone multiple times.
• Everyone must find the right course of action! Violence isn't always the solution, look around for clues.
• Those who succeed in their challenges will receive a huge puzzle piece
• They get taken into the next room with huge puzzle wall of total 120 pieces
• Failing a challenge will transport back to the artifact, where characters are unable to move their bodies for 5 minutes but they can still talk
• Putting the pieces to this huge wall is a challenge in itself
• Use telekinesis, fly, or other skills, there's also the chance to climb to any spot
• After all the pieces are in their right place, the room will reveal a room full of treasure (gold, jewels, tiaras)
• Characters can get brooches, that transform into a weapon or a shield (take them to your friends too!)
• Main prize: portal gun stuck to location x999, y949
• Where's that portal open? Somewhere, maybe we'll find it someday but for now take that gun back to Jade and call this mission successful.
• Ask event related questions here
• There's only one portal gun, so we can say one of the Researcher NPCs got the honor of bringing the portal gun back, so no one has to claim they did it.
• Smut is not allowed on the event post, so if your thread is heading that way, please move it to a separate entry (like to your musebox or characters' journal).
• Remember to content and spoiler and content warn as necessary!
stelle 🌠 honkai: star rail 🌠 spring
[So, uh.
Due to canon update shenanigans, Stelle isn't immediately on the mission on the 17th - instead, she can be found a couple of days later, and if there's anybody who's come out by the entrance to rest up before going back into the ruins, they'll notice Stelle holding what seems to be a feathered pen in her hands as she greets the nearest person.]
Sorry for the hold up! I went back to my universe for a bit and dealt with some stuff. What'd I miss?
[Hopefully not much!]
option two
[When Stelle sees the artifacts she can't help but gasp in awe, immediately trying to take out something, only to realize that she doesn't have it.]
Oh. Right, I don't have March's camera on me.
[Guess she'll just have to do the second best thing, take out her phone and snap shots herself. If she sees you, however:]
Hey! You wanna take a few photos next to these?
[Priorities.]
option three
[--aaaaand she eventually touches one of them and hears the message, before commenting,]
This feels a little Amphoreus-coded.
[Stelle. Nobody's gonna get that.]
But "violence is not always the answer"... we're going to get some puzzles, aren't we? [And looking in the direction of whoever she's with:] You good with puzzles?
[Just checking in, really.]
option three.
[Stelle is really good at puzzles, although she will frown if she winds up with a piece that isn't one of the corner ones if they haven't filled those out yet.
For some of the higher up pieces, she can be found hovering; a small tornado that she's conjured up with her Spring powers bringing her up as she slots something in.
Once the puzzle is finished and she finds the treasure however, all gloves are off as she shouts at the top of her lungs:]
GERONIMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
[--and immediately dives into the treasure like the trash racoon she is.]
wildcard
[Want to play out something else or perhaps you want a custom starter? Here's where you can do that! Also, for option three, it's dealer's choice as to which task you want to take on, I'm good for pretty much all of them. Feel free to hit me up on
tsundereban, my plotting post, PM or the unofficial Discord.]

Aimoto Rinku | D4DJ (Dig Delight Direct Drive DJ) | Summer
[Sure, Rinku could've called Mop to fly her out. But it's so hot out, it wouldn't have a good time at all! Besides...]
Aren't these guys so cool? And it's always good to get closer to people!
[...she is all for the Lover Camel thing. If you're assigned with her on the camel, she is definitely latched onto you.]
Have you ever seen them before?
[2 - If Spiky Why Friend Shaped (1)]
[Rinku has her own Luxury Tent and has already set it up, but now she's going around to anyone who's having trouble with theirs thanks to the temporary spell!]
Do you need help? I think it's like this! At least mine is.
[She's also prepared when it comes to campfire cooking, pulling out a small cooler and a cast-iron hot pot from her Hammerspace Purse. Time for one-pot curry rice!]
Before I came to Ellipsa, I could never make this kinda stuff! I mean, I saw it on TV, but I was too scared to use the knives and things...
[3 - If Spiky Why Friend Shaped (2)]
[Time to wander into the ruins, she guesses... Rinku stands outside the path split, humming and trying to concentrate.]
Hmhmhmhm... How do you pick a path if the signal's coming from all of them? Do you just randomly point?
[4 - Not Another Labyrinth]
Wah!
[That's the only warning before a trap door slams open. Rinku falls down, barely managing to shift to bird and get her bearings so she doesn't land in the spike pit below. She struggles upward and back onto the other edge of the pit.]
Can you get across?
[5 - Not Another Labyrinth (2)]
[At the bird trial, Rinku is... well, she's having a time. The birds are chasing and pecking her, and she's got her arms up guarding her face.]
Hey, what do you need? Are you just hungry? Or did something hurt you?
[The boar trial looks a lot more intimidating. Rinku has lived in a lot of places, she's spent her days in the jungle, she knows enough animal facts to know that wherever you are, You Do Not Mess With Wild Pigs. You do not even mess with farm pigs if you don't know what you're doing, but wild pigs? Nope.
But who would she be if she didn't think things would turn out fine?
Rinku stands in front of the town, looking up the hill as the stampede approaches. She throws both her hands forward and puts up a wall of fire, slowly drawing out her magical energy to spread it further and further. Either they'll run right into it or, more likely, they'll divert their path, and either way, the town will be safe. They'll be safe.
She just needs to keep the fire up and spread it further.]
Labyrinth 2
[Rise rushes forward, ignoring the heat of the flames to put a hand on Rinku's shoulder.]
You need more fuel to keep this going, right? Just leave it to me!
[Wind blows from behind the two of them, whipping the flames up in a frenzy of heat and force.]

Frieda Reiss | Attack on Titan | Spring
[The private invitation to join the expedition makes Frieda a bit suspicious at first, but after checking in with others, she quickly realises that the secrecy is a safety measure to throw (presumably) "the" people off their trail and hopefully avoid a repeat of what happened in the crystal mines. As such, she's eager to join in!
As the expedition under leadership of her guild leader Jade sets out, she mounts a lover camel and offers her hand to anyone who looks like they're considering joining her.]
Ride with me! It can't be that different from riding a horse, right?
2) If Spiky why Friend Shaped
[While Frieda makes good use of the sunscreen, hat, and umbrella, she's nevertheless exhausted by the time the group sets up camp. As she pauses in her set-up activities to down a small bottle of water, she feels something prick her ankle and jumps, only to see a cat-shaped cactus when she looks down.]
Why..! What's this?
[She's had some bad experiences with cacti in her time in Ellipsa, so despite its small size, she eyes it rather suspiciously.]
3) Not Another Labyrinth
Part I
[Eventually, once everyone has rested and recovered their strength, it's time to enter the ruins. Frieda frowns at her companion as they see branching paths in front of them.]
Don't tell me this is another maze...
[First the fae trials, then the SEAKEA challenge (yes, that counts!), then the crystal mines, and now this! But there's no helping it. She calls on her light magic to at least illuminate the surroundings - but will that prevent them from activating any traps?]
Part II
[Having made it through the labyrinth, Frieda and her questmade eventually find themselves by a statue of a creature (
of your, or else the RNG's, choosing)... and whether they end up touching it on purpose to try and push it aside, suspecting a riddle or hidden passage, or just by accident, they find themselves transported to a different place altogether! Frieda is alert as she looks around.]Where in the world are we?
[Is this yet another trial?!

Toshirou Hijikata | Gintama (Prismatica & Isle of Avalon CRAU) | Summer
[A secret new mission into the desert ruins? Count Hijikata in!!
Or, well... maybe he got a little too eager. When he arrives at the outskirts of the Des(s)ert of Illusions at the agreed-upon time, dressed in the appropriate gear and his Hammerspace Bag full of provisions, there's nobody else in sight. (Guess who didn't read the expedition brief properly and immediately assumed that they'd venture out into the larger, less explored desert?)]
Huh..?! Did everybody stand me up? There's no way, right? Don't tell me they were swallowed by a sandstorm!
[He checks his phone for incoming SOS messages, but there's no sign of an emergency. This is too weird!]
2) If Spiky why Friend Shaped
[After being checked on and air-lifted to the actual scene of interest by his Servant, Hijikata is in a pretty pissy mood - and what better to do about that than take it out on a mummy? Seeing one sneak up on an unsuspecting victim, he comes dashing at them!]
Not so fast, you dusty pile of rags!!
[The mummy immediately tries to run, but already, he's sending his fire magic at its dry bandages!]
3) Not Another Labyrinth
Part I
[When Hijikata enters the ruins alongside his companion, it's with a somewhat cooler head... or is it? As soon as the labyrinthine nature of the structure becomes evident, he offers:]
Let me go ahead. Whatever traps they hid in here, I'm as good as indestructible.
[Cocky much?!]
Part II
[Once he and his partner reach an important-looking statue (
of your, of else the RNG's, choosing), it's not long until he touches it - it not to try and move it, then to lean against it as he lights himself a cigarette (apparently unperturbed by how much the stale underground air will exacerbate the unhealthiness!), and promptly he gets teleported elsewhere. Hopefully, his partner will follow suit - he may need backup!]Well, great. Let's see what they'll be testing this time around.
[Spoken like a true trial veteran. Seriously, what will it be - courage, determination, strength, patience, morals? Throw it at him!!
(OOC: If you'd like to plot something out, find me on my plotting post!)]
Part II: Lion Route (cw: violence in general, blood, death)

Kaeya Alberich | Genshin Impact | Summer
Kaeya opted to ride his own horse, rather than choose the Lovers Camel. But, as Umbra was pure black, he knew the desert heat wasn't going to be kind on her in particular. So, people may notice a somewhat cool mist around the pair as they make their way from one stop the next. During the height of the sun and at one particular stop, Kaeya even created an icy shelter, only letting it melt once they got moving.
He was quite attentive to his horse's needs, but he also kept an eye out for anyone else feeling the heat, offering extra water (slightly chilled) and even room under the ice shelter. He couldn't create water, he didn't have a Hydro Vision, but his Cryo allowed him some leeway with already available sources.
By the end of the day, Kaeya was feeling a bit of the heat and was exhausted. Once he got Umbra situated in the shade with the other camels and horses and other animals people used to ride, he sat down heavily at the camp site and took a long swig of the canteen. He looked to whomever was nearby and held out the canteen to them. "It's nice and cool, here, drink up."
Labyrinth Part 3
Could Kaeya fly? Yes. Could Kaeya use telekinesis? Also, yes. What did Kaeya choose to do? Climb. Don't ask why (please ask why) because he is currently concentrating on figuring out if he could make it to the next spot. This is taking a lot more grip strength than he had, though and he was really struggling.
"Do you see another spot I could grab?" He grunted, leaning back and holding onto the climbing hold to try and find another spot. He was panting a bit, maybe he ought to just use his magic instead but he was already so tired and that's partly why he was trying to conserve. His magical energy was running a bit low. "Nevermind, I'll just-"
His foot slipped on the hold and he really didn't have enough grip strength to hold himself up and he was falling. Please catch him, thanks.
Wildcard
[Or we can do something else, just hit me up and let me know! If your character opts to not catch Kaeya, he'll stop himself via telekinesis from going splat lol]
labyrinth
[Rinku reaches out to slow his fall with telekinesis, dropping her midair puzzle piece in the process.]
Are you okay there?

Labyrinth Part 3
And, naturally, all thought of what magic he could use to stop Kaeya hitting the ground goes out of his head. What he does instead is move quickly forwards and catches the other man as he falls, immediately dropping to one knee with a soft grunt as the weight knocks him downwards.
"What do you think you're doing?" he snaps, the annoyance clearly out of worry. "Why must you always over-stretch yourself like this?"

Jean Kirstein 🔥Attack on Titan (Empatheias & Avalon CRAU)
Jean is happy to be back to action, after needing to rest for six weeks waiting for his stupid broken rib to heal. How does he celebrate it?
By running after skeletons and tossing fireballs at them, of course. He can hold a grudge when he wants to. "Stupid bony assholes, scram!"
Cacti-Cats
At least the other visitors they have at the camp are nicer to deal with. Jean carefully offers the cats some treats he has with him which they happily munch on. One of the bigger ones drops their flower for him and meows.
"Thanks. I appree--Ah!" One of the kittens pushed its head on his leg. Luckily, Jean's magical tattoo was quick to heal the little wound that happened. "Careful there, little guy. Not everyone enjoys being a pin cushion."
He doesn't, but the cats are too cute for him to shoo away.
Trials
Jean's luck takes him to the trial of the Lion. Gigantic enemies are normal to him and at least he's wearing is OMD gear so he can definitely reach the thing. It's still different from a titan and it has been a very long time since he fought even those things, so he needs to figure out a game plan. Hopefully before the lion makes a move.
"I really don't like the look of this," he says to whoever he's ended up with. "We could go for its legs first, but the risk is it might be too fast and snatch us when we get close. Unless one of us acts as a bait to distract it."
He's been a bait before, so he could probably do that if necessary.
Wildcard
Other trials I'm interested in are the Ox and the Boar. The puzzle at the end would also be alright, if you feel like it!

These guys are territorial. At least there's only one of them. In the wild there'd probably be a ton. What about magic you can cast from far away?

Frieda can't help but lift a hand to cover the lower half of her face. The smell is overwhelming, and the reason is evident: This stable hasn't been mucked out in a long, long time.]
Is this a giant's stable?

Albedo | Genshin Impact
[ They've made it easy for them with the easy set up for camps. He keeps his own tent a little bit away from the others, trying to get a little bit of a quiet space for himself. It's not that he dislikes people, but he does like his own quiet space. It doesn't take long to set it up, though. And he decides that he'll get in closer to see if anyone else needs help and offer his own assistance. He will ensure everyone else gets the help they need, if needed.
He'll also shift his attention to helping put up barrier stones in the area. He pats his sword at his hip, not taking any chances, as he starts to gather and place the barrier stones. But the approaching Cacti-cats don't go unnoticed. He looks up at one making its way towards him, and another towards others helping at the same task. He pauses and steps over, moving towards them, unbothered by the potential harm they could do.
He bends at the knee when one gets close, offering his hand to it. He feels that prick of a needle when it bops his hand for attention. He glances towards the other down the way. ]
Be careful, it does hurt. But they seem friendly otherwise. [ Back to the cat. ] I have some jerky in my pockets, maybe you'd like some?
II. INTO THE RUINS
[ He wanted to explore on his own. Even with people he liked, he would have preferred to take his time, do what he wants to do, and then go about his day in the ruins. He doesn't want to burden anyone else with his curiosity, or tendency to analyze everything and move slowly. He hopes to find someone just as interested as he is in the ruins with a chance to explore.
He'll take a chance after glancing around and approach. ]
If you don't mind a slower pace, we can go together.
[ The offer is there. He's clearly prepared to fight if needed, with a sword on his hip. He's not naive enough to think that it won't be dangerous. ]
III. TRIALS
[ ooc note: open to any trials. ]
[ It was, indeed, an obvious trap. But it wasn't like there was other options. They had touched the creature or animal and been sent off to somewhere new. So, despite it being a trap, he can't say that he anticipate that it would teleport them and then send them...here.
Wherever here is.
Then he hears the message about completing a challenge. He's attentive while it finishes and then glances towards his partner. ]
I suppose we should figure out what we have to do.
IV. WILDCARD
[ open to other stuff, too. wildcard or i can custom start. lmk :) ]
Into the Ruins
Not at all. There isn't always an opportunity to explore when adventuring. Usually things are so urgent with these kinds of quests.
[She had a cane at her back, brass colored and probably not very powerful looking. She was a healer, today.]
