Nightwake- Early Nov- OTA
Hello! You wouldn't happen to have a moment to help a stranger in need?
scoots in
The doctor pauses, smiles, then pulls his scarf away from his mouth to speak.]
Of course. What are you in need of?
no subject
I can't find a good place to eat! The tragedy!
[He put a hand to his head, hoping that being overdramatic about it would make asking for help more bearable. It's still a blow to his pride, but hopefully one that only he will be able to know about.
He puts on a grin.]
Any recommendations~?
no subject
Oh, certainly. I was thinking of getting something to eat quite soon myself, in fact. Would you care to join me?
[Inviting a complete stranger to join him for lunch does not even rank in the top ten of the most idiotic things Baizhu has ever done with his time. As far as danger goes, it's practically a walk in a very, very safe park.]
no subject
[Given how bustling the city is, Break will try to keep the other talking in order to keep tabs on him.]
This is quite the situation we've all found ourselves in, hmm? Being whisked away to a strange time and place, isn't an everyday occurrence. You seem rather adjusted to this place. Been here long?
no subject
[And he can be quite the talker, so he continues on in a pleasantly conversational way as they move through the crowds in the direction of some sustenance.]
And I have been here for some time, yes. Quite long enough to grow used to the general hustle and bustle. [He pauses and hums softly.] Though I don't often find myself in the city proper. It was fortuitous that we were able to meet.
no subject
This is a rather exciting city, isn't it? [It's so much noisier than what he's used to, even when he goes into the cities back home.]
I see. Well then, I'll consider myself lucky~
Where is it that you spend most of your time then?
no subject
[Xerxes Break. A curious name. Curious enough that he will surely remember it.]
I have a pharmacy there, a small patient base amongst the native peoples and transplants like ourselves, and... the climate agrees with me more readily.
no subject
A pharmacy? You're a doctor then? I suppose I now know who to come to if I ever fall ill~
[He says like he would ever willingly go to a doctor for help.]
no subject
[Perfect for someone with a laundry list of health conditions, and Changsheng does not mind the warmth.
As they walk, Baizhu notes a step up to a raised market area ahead. Without saying a word as they reach it, he moves his hand and cups it firmly beneath his companion's elbow.]
And yes, I am a physician. [With the step tackled, he releases Break's arm, saying nothing of it.] I primarily make use of herbal medicine and qi manipulation in order to treat my patients.
no subject
He does use his sword-cane a little more properly now.]
I'm afraid I haven't heard of qi manipulation before. What does that entail?
no subject
Qi is a name for the vital energy within living things. [He explains patiently.] Think of it as a carefully balanced system. When one grows ill, the qi becomes unbalanced. I have a talent for re-balancing it, using my own as a medium if the need is great enough.
no subject
Hypothetically, of course~
no subject
I could.
[In theory.]
The principles would be the same. However... I am a doctor, and as such I have sworn to do no harm.
no subject
[He files away that information for later, when this conversation isn't as fresh. For now, he'll change the subject.]
Enough about work though, what other interesting places are around here, hm?
no subject
[Well, he did come here for a specific reason, but he supposes he can give a run-down of the local sights.]
We are currently in one of the central market streets that run during the week. The farmers from the surrounding segments come here to sell their wares.

no subject
[And he can be so particular.]
no subject
[He learned many things from his time serving the Rainsworths, and that was one of the ones that he had to learn early on.]
What kind of tea is it that you like?
no subject
[It helps marvellously with the coughing.]
But I have a liking for several. Were you looking for a recommendation?
no subject
[Though in his experience, health aids tend to be bitter.]
I, myself, prefer sweeter or floral teas~
no subject
[He will add sweeteners to teas if people like them, though it's not his own preference...]
You may enjoy something with jasmine, or perhaps lavender.

[Not the kinds of places he usually ventures, but he does know of some... if only because a certain young girl he knows has a very healthy sweet tooth.]
There is one just along here, in fact. A young friend of mine rates their produce highly.

Winter Guild-Early Nov-OTA
That, however, was easier said than done, considering he just drenched himself in water on accident. Even with the cold water he could feel his face heating up. He knows he's not alone, which makes the whole thing worse.]
It's not like I got swordplay in a day either...
[That was said more to himself than his audience.]
Blossomcrown-Early Nov-OTA
Are you here to enjoy the lovely day as well?
