Mini Event Mingle: Halloween is Coming to Town
Halloween has been officially adopted as a holiday in Ellipsa. So the Summer Guild Leader, Dawn, has arranged a three day party to celebrate it. She has gotten a lot of people involved to make it as fun as possible! They are held at all of the guilds (Frostreign, Blossomcrown, Solarpeak, Amberfall).
All of the guilds are now connected through a mirror path. However, the paths have been made longer with the help of Riki's Rewards, so the journey from Guild A to Guild B isn't instant! Instead people will encounter the spooky corridor, full of silly ways to spook someone such as randomly appearing skeletons and ghosts. Usually these are just fake props or people hiding under a sheet - but occasionally there's an actual skeleton around and taking off his head to cite Shakespeare.
The aesthetics of the corridor change depending on what guilds it connects together. All of them are made to be spooky right now, but originally they were made to work as actual methods of traveling between the guilds, so it's not everything there is. The night skies with a creepy red full moons are just temporary!
At the guilds, all of the natives have dressed up in different costumes and are encouraging people to pick their own costume from the costume room setup. Unfortunately, some very mischievous fairies have gotten into the room undetected and may cast a spell that makes someone act like they're the character the costume represents.
There's also an option to get a random costume if someone feels daring.
Otherwise it's a party filled with different kinds of Halloween appropriate food and drinks. Cookies that look like skeletons, pudding made to look like brains, drinks that look like blood and so on. Even the actual food has somehow been made to look creepy.
By the end of the evening, anyone who hasn't screamed because they were scared will be gifted a special potion called shared bravery. It lets the user to share their bravery with others around them for five hours.
Happy Halloween!

Hmph. At least they recognise the splendour of my court!
[Some real ghosts come howling, but Frieda, unable to see them, barely reacts. Hopefully, she isn't getting too heavy for Evangeline... she might not take kindly to having to be set down!]
no subject
What role do I have in your court, exactly?
no subject
You are my valued majordomo, my Admiral.
[Those seem like conflicting roles... unless she's under the impression that Evangeline is an admiral butterfly, which may or may not be the case!
A huge fake spider is about to drop from the ceiling and land in her lap as they approach the simple sensor that triggers its descent - will Evangeline be able to intercept it?]
no subject
[Unfortunately, Evangeline does not even register the fake spider as something to care about, so she makes no attempt to intercept it.]
no subject
[And the puppy-sized spider drops!]
Oh!! Why, how dare you--!
[She grabs it, tosses it into the air, and smacks it hard with her spectre, sending it flying. Good thing it's not a real one!]
Outrageous!! No one is allowed to touch me, much less take a seat on me, without my express permission!
no subject
Have you ever considered picking up tennis?
[She's just saying, that was a pretty good volley right there-]
no subject
[That's all she has to say on the matter, apparently! As Evangeline continues on with her in her arms, a fake mummy jumps out at them - and just barely avoids being jabbed by that overly dangerous sceptre. The poor sod quickly stumbles back into the darkness with a surprised "Whoa!".]
To be thus accosted on my voyage home... where is the respect I deserve, my Admiral?
no subject
Maybe they don't know who you are?

[She twists in Evangeline's arms to look back over her shoulder, scanning the area for the preted-ghouls.]
I am the Queen of Hearts!! This is outrageous..! That rabble dares to ignore not just my standing, but my very being?!
[Oh dear. Luckily, the mirror leading to the summer guild building is coming into view, so hopefully she won't get any angrier before Evangeline can get her out of the infuriation zone!]
no subject
It's a real crime, I totally agree! -Here we go!
[Aaand taking them through the mirror before Frieda can yell at anyone else.]
no subject
Thank you, my loyal majordomo. You may set me down.
[Apparently, even the Queen of Hearts is willing to walk the last bit of the way home on her own two feet... unless she intends to take one of the taxi boats along the artificial sea. However, as she approaches the exit, a volunteer worker recognises her outfit as part of their collection and chipperly stops her: "Miss, don't forget to return the costume! The changing room's free right now."]
Pardon me?
[It looks like she'll have an offended outburst... but then she pauses, rummages through her Hammerspace Purse, and procures her usual clothes that she stowed away after getting dressed up at the spring guild. Sadly, she doesn't seem to impressed with them.]
I was open to the suggestion of changing into a promenade outfit, but these clothes are barely even fit for a peasant!
[This sure is becoming a long night... what will Evangeline do?
A) Attempt to convince her
B) Leave her to her own devices (and for Jade to deal with)
C) A secret third thing]
no subject
Frieda, those are your clothes, I've seen you wearing them before! They belong to you, so that makes them royal wear.
[A??]
no subject
Hmm... a disguise, then, to move incognito... but tell me, my Admiral, why should I not walk proudly among my subjects as their rightful ruler?
[Here's hoping that none of her countrymen are overhearing this!]
It may be nighttime, but my splendour still shines under the moon and stars!
no subject
Um... To survey your kingdom without your subjects being so awed by your splendor that you can't observe the goings on?
1/2
I suppose I can be so magnanimous! Well, then!
[To the relief of pretty much everyone in the vicinity, she enters the changing room.]
2/2
I feel like I acted really annoyingly before... was it very bad?
[Since her magic-addled queen persona found no fault with her behaviour, it feels harder to assess in hindsight than it should! Was she incredibly obnoxious? Or did she just overdo it a little? She really can't tell!]
no subject
...Oh good, Evangeline has to tell her how bad it was.]
Well... You tried to hit one of the dressed up people in the corridor with your scepter. And called people peasants a lot... and made a lot of demands...
no subject
[It's true though, isn't it? She distinctly remembers it! But those people were also really annoying and disrespectful... weren't they? They got in her way and tried to scare her... but that's the point, isn't it? She felt really offended, as if the corridor weren't there precisely for people to get spooked in! Just how disproportionally mean was she to those poor volunteers?!]
My costume... I think there was a spell on my costume! I can't explain why I'd be so impatient with everybody otherwise!
[Evangeline's going to believe her, right? Something like that happened before at the fashion show quest, after all!]
no subject
[Unsurprisingly, an Abnormality was not a costume choice available in the dressing room.]
I know you're not like that normally, don't worry.
no subject
[Despite the relief of having that confirmed, she looks pretty chagrined. She should go apologise to those poor people, but it'd feel mortifying... maybe, they won't remember her? Can she dare hope for that? That aside, though, her eyes wander over Evangeline's butterfly head.]
I didn't even compliment your costume, did I? It's gorgeous! May I?
[She'll carefully touch her wings (cheeks?)... all the little shimmering facettes are quite gorgeous!]
no subject
[Her wings/cheeks flutter as she giggles.]
Thank you! It's a costume of an Abnormality from home, Funeral of the Dead Butterflies. Impeccably dressed, but when I got hit by that trick I started asking people how they'd like to be grieved and freaked Rinku out. So, like, it could be worse.
no subject
I wouldn't want to be grieved at all.
[While Queen Frieda from before would probably have demanded a state funeral, statues and a mausoleum, regular Frieda thinks that it'd be best if everyone just forgot about her... back home, at least. But she tries to put a positive spin to it:]
Isn't it better when people just remember you fondly? But I suppose those two things go hand in hand... if you were fond of someone, you inevitably miss them when they're gone.
no subject
[Quiet, but firm.]
When you aren't allowed to be upset that someone you care about is dead, when you don't get to take the time to mourn because you have to be at a hundred percent efficiency or you'll be next... I can shove all my feelings down, because I had to to survive, but it wasn't what anyone would call healthy.
