Mini Event Mingle: Halloween is Coming to Town
Halloween has been officially adopted as a holiday in Ellipsa. So the Summer Guild Leader, Dawn, has arranged a three day party to celebrate it. She has gotten a lot of people involved to make it as fun as possible! They are held at all of the guilds (Frostreign, Blossomcrown, Solarpeak, Amberfall).
All of the guilds are now connected through a mirror path. However, the paths have been made longer with the help of Riki's Rewards, so the journey from Guild A to Guild B isn't instant! Instead people will encounter the spooky corridor, full of silly ways to spook someone such as randomly appearing skeletons and ghosts. Usually these are just fake props or people hiding under a sheet - but occasionally there's an actual skeleton around and taking off his head to cite Shakespeare.
The aesthetics of the corridor change depending on what guilds it connects together. All of them are made to be spooky right now, but originally they were made to work as actual methods of traveling between the guilds, so it's not everything there is. The night skies with a creepy red full moons are just temporary!
At the guilds, all of the natives have dressed up in different costumes and are encouraging people to pick their own costume from the costume room setup. Unfortunately, some very mischievous fairies have gotten into the room undetected and may cast a spell that makes someone act like they're the character the costume represents.
There's also an option to get a random costume if someone feels daring.
Otherwise it's a party filled with different kinds of Halloween appropriate food and drinks. Cookies that look like skeletons, pudding made to look like brains, drinks that look like blood and so on. Even the actual food has somehow been made to look creepy.
By the end of the evening, anyone who hasn't screamed because they were scared will be gifted a special potion called shared bravery. It lets the user to share their bravery with others around them for five hours.
Happy Halloween!

Aimoto Rinku | D4DJ (Dig Delight Direct Drive DJ) | Summer
[Rinku shows up with Mecchan and Hina. As agreed with Russell, they're dressed up as an adventuring guild! Rinku's a bard, wearing the same minidress-and-thigh-highs combination that she wears under her armour (hey, why are there rips in the back where wings would be?) but instead of armoured layers, she's got belts, pirate boots, and a lyre strapped to her back, and a jewelled pin in her hair instead of her usual bow. Hina is a barbarian with a little fuzzy tunic around her torso and a foam axe strapped to it, and Mecchan is a mage hiding in his little robe and holding a "staff" that's actually a magical-girl-wand-themed pen so it's just his size.]
Wow, isn't this great? Everyone's gonna have so much fun this year! Hey, hey, what's your costume?
[2) Mirror Path Corridors]
[Rinku and friends are absolutely trying these out! Mecchan is shaking in his robe, and when a sheet ghost drops from the ceiling, he blows bubbles at it and knocks it over. Realizing finally that everything is fine, he slumps a little and Rinku pets him.]
See, it's not scary at all!
[She notices you and waves.]
Hi! Sorry, he gets scared a lot... but this isn't really scary, so I think it's fine. How are you doing?
[3) Costume Room (any guild)]
[Sure, Rinku came with a costume, but trying out the costume room for a little bit seems fun, right? She comes in and tries on a princess costume and spins around in it.]
Wooow! Isn't this cute? You gotta try one!
[And then she tries... Why is there a Sexy Frost Giant costume? Either way, Rinku can't keep a straight face and starts giggling when she comes out of the changing room in this thing.]
I guess even Ellipsa has this stuff.
[4) Food (any guild) | cw trauma reaction]
[Rinku approaches the food table, humming and ready to inhale everything as usual. Hina's already flown over and started to dig into an eyeball cake pop, and even Mecchan looks excited.
But seeing the gore food, she freezes. She drops her empty plate on the floor and stares, her usually sparkling eyes going blank.]
...
[Guess who's been repressing how that high-risk quest went! Not to mention that time she set a gangster on fire!]
4.
Ah- [He spies the mess; spies Rinku, and then he stoops to clean up.]
I can't blame you, not having a stomach for this...
[Then, peeking-] You alright?
no subject
...hi?
[It's almost a question.]
no subject
His brows dip, finally.]
Did something happen just now...?
[They've never "met", but he's not so dimmed he'd miss the lack of a light; that something's off.]
You don't have to say if you don't want...
no subject
[Mecchan warbles at both of them, starting to relax a little. Rinku pets him.]
I had a quest earlier thst got kind of... I don't like hurting people. Sorry.
no subject
No. It's a mission. You have nothing to be sorry about.
[He doesn't know, but he can guess.]
We should... probably sit by the pumpkins for now?
[Away from food?]
no subject
[Rinku picks Hina up from the table, barely registering her disappointed squeak. She shuffles over to the pumpkins.]
Sorry. This was really fun before.
no subject
[In no time, they've reached the too-big, overgrown pumpkins, and the boy takes a seat. Shouto, of course, more tattered scarecrow than boy. Though when he speaks, he keeps himself from looking at Rinku directly. He looks a fright.]
What kind of mission did you take?
[He asks, but there's the impression that an answer's an option. He's fine to sit.]
cw vague gore discussion
I made a promise. A deal. Because I wanted to prove myself to my friends. So I took a high-risk quest. [sniff] It went better than the last time I tried one. I didn't panic. I didn't almost turn to stone. Even when they trapped me in a shadow thingy, it was like they were trying to do something but it wouldn't work. It wasn't as bad as other people have had. But...
But I keep on seeing the... you know, how gross it was. Monster parts everywhere, and my quest partner getting impaled even if he was fine. I almost got impaled if it weren't for my armour and all the magic protection stuff I had. I still don't wanna stop because I should get used to this, I wanna help everyone! But I'm scared.
CW: mild gore/mention of death
That's Bushido. And yet... and still—]
Don't. [Putting it softly, dipping his eyes because his Lich isn't make-up-] Don't... get used to something like that...
[He says, but there's the horrible, realization that he's growing numb, too; that he's much worse.]
There's more to combat than blood on your hands. But that sympathy's still your strength—you don't forget, you don't hurt others just to hurt; you understand what it's taking away-
[And more than that,]
I don't "know" you; we've barely just met; but listening to you before, I doubt you've "half-assed" anything once, [to borrow a phrase from someone he knows-], so you'd probably give it your all if you're asked. You did your best with what you've been given... I'd think...
[He thinks of the man who gifts him sweets; mint-green stars which glow in the dark; his gifted sword immersed in blood. How sensei feels-]
You're a kid, but you still fight. So, I definitely know that look on your face. "If I don't get stronger, they'll leave me behind. Everyone's growing except for me"- But friends don't leave each other behind; and there's definitely nothing to prove here, either. Friends get stronger, side-by-side, so... Even if we're not really friends-
[He knows it's awkward, and still:]
Why don't you... train with me sometime?
[Less fear; more preparation.]
We could ask sensei for help.
no subject
You sound like Neechan...
[Rinku sniffs. She wipes her eyes on her sleeve again.]
You're right. I've been training really hard with her, but I keep getting scared that everyone else is growing and I'm not. That I won't be good enough and no one will believe in me or want my help.
And... I thought we were friends.
[She thinks everyone is.]
no subject
Sorry, I- [put it all wrong.] I know a guy— He's always yelling how we're not friends, that I'm dense and a bother and things like that; so it's more that I thought "I'm assuming too much..." That maybe we weren't as close as I'd thought, trying to avoid that mistake...
[And doesn't he always make mistakes?]
But even through music, you've helped me a lot- So it's just something you might overlook; supportive tactics and things like that... As much as everyone's needed your help, it's just that I think they're protecting you, too, whether or not it's something you'd want.
[Which is to say:]
We want your help in the way you can give it.
no subject
I don't wanna fail. And I'm no good at making plans and smart stuff, even though I work hard at it. I know people who don't fight are helping too, I really do! But even if I'm scared, I still want to fight. I've been working really hard, I promise...
[gulp]
Thank you. I didn't wanna mess up.
no subject
In the end, he drags little, dry wood sticks to set alight with his Quirk. Makeshift camp.]
Right... You've been working as hard as any of us.
[Despite the fear.]
But you won't fail. If we're friends, we're allies first, so-
[It isn't much, but he does toss candies for each of the Pokémon, too. Onibi's sweets.]
I'll be sure to rely on you too, if it's fine.
no subject
Rinku gulps, hesitates, and hugs Shouto tightly.]
Are you okay?
no subject
This is Rinku; and warm, kindly attached but whom he "doesn't know", he thinks. He nearly jumps, and he looks so startled that maybe it's easily mistaken for something worse. But who would hold him but Hijikata? He's never asked, even if others still exist and Shouto shyly avoids them, too. It's only sensei—sitting back-to-back, like boys—who's patting his shoulders from time to time. His warmth's a hand, tousling his hair until its strands mix and match. A bag of sweets.
His arms go up. Drape too softly around her shoulders; mirroring her too.]
Me? [Stupid question. Dumb, dumb...] Isn't this backwards, a little?
[And who's helping who, again?]
I'm the one who's supposed to ask.
[Sorry, sorry...]
no subject
It just felt like you were scared too, of something. So I didn't wanna make it worse.
no subject
I'm not. [Lying a little. A Hero reassures. Always.]
You'd naturally worry about your friends, right? So, I can too.
["Never you mind, Rinku!"]
What about you? ...Any better?
no subject
no subject
Don't think you have to force yourself. [Not with food; not for missions or any reasons, he thinks.]
I'll be here.
[Just camping out!]
no subject
[Rinku smiles. Mecchan blows a bubble and cautiously smiles too; this person seems nice.
She takes a deep breath and goes back into the room.]
costumes
"Costume? What're ye talkin' about young miss?"
A little too into his costume, also thanks to magic.
"Interestin' company you're holdin'."
no subject
Mecchan hides in his little cloak. Hina curiously squeaks and flits around Jean.
"Don't bite, okay, Hina-chan?"
