[ Sometimes you text the handsome monkey you're deeply, fantastically smitten with to make a Spicy proposition. And sometimes … you end up with: +1 mate (mate! a mate! a mate for Miyuni!) and +1 invitation to crash in his nest, in his bedroom, in the home he shares with his children and their — family? pack? troop? Hm. She ought to check if they've got a pref on that … ]

[ Hours had passed, and Miyuni had asked if he'd fancy introducing her to his son. ]

[ She's heard the kid, in her own ways. Sensed him. But there's hearing and sensing and then there's meeting, and duh, of course she'd want to introduce herself to someone so important to Choco and Macaque. That she'd been offered a place under their roof was just a bonus incentive. Politeness! Manners! She has them! … Most of the time. And, listen. It doesn't take a genius to clock the vibes around here. The kid's a kid, yep. A wickedly smart, talented kid, yup. All important facts Miyuni's keeping in mind. But, like, she can't not acknowledge that the kid's a predator in his own right, and a fiercely territorial one at that. It's written loud and clear in his scent, which is all kinds of everywhere — along with a myriad of other signs. This is his space. The people here are his people. She wants to do right by them. ]

[ Macaque made the arrangements, and now the two of them are hanging out in the kitchen diner to wait. Miyuni — wearing dark jeans, a nice sweater, and a midnight purple vest with detailing in her signature AlcheMe colours — is admiring some of the art on the walls. Namely, this piece. ]

Now that's art.

He knew that thing would come back to haunt him. But Miyuni looks so delighted about it that there's only so upset he can be. Flustered, however, that he can be.

"My daughter lives to be a menace." That's his explanation.

Thankfully, the reason they're here keeps his focus divided enough not to blush too hard, though there's definitely a bit of it.

"She is a beloved menace and you really should get used to the art. I imagine when you meet Mikey, he and Choco will plot many such art projects," Donnie said. Standing at the doorway to kitchen, looking at Miyuni.

He knows when to add people to the birdtile house system. There's party mode and friend codes, of course, to allow limited access without BOSS acting up that everyone has, but when someone is around Enough, he makes sure to add them properly.

But he hasn't gotten to meet her yet while decompressing, but he recognizes the scent.

"You scented Choco," he said flatly.

Flustered really is such a good look on him. One of the best. … And, like. Yeah, she'd probably say that about most of his looks, barring some obvious exceptions, because she's smitten as all fuck and not the least bit ashamed to admit it? Still. It's such a good look and she will be committing it to memory, thank you very much.

Her smile briefly widens, one ear wiggling cheerfully. One, because the other has been angled casually towards the kitchen door since the moment Donnie approached it. The ear perks when he speaks up, and she turns to greet him.

"That I did," she replies honestly, tilting her head. "Is platonic scenting a no-no? Lemme know where the lines are and I'll respect 'em."

"Thanks for the warning, kiddo." Note to self, watch the fuck out when Choco and Mikey get in a room.

Macaque watches the exchange with mild interest. It's not his thing to work out, but he has faith in them. Donnie might be coming in a smidge hot, but also this is important for him.

He'll just wait until they have this worked out to formally introduce them.

"Scents are for mates and basically family," Donnie said. "Its a claim of sorts, someone is one of yours. Please note, they still have their autonomy, this not an enslavement yours. They're just yours." Its a little hard to put into words the yours, its just YOURS makes the most scent. "If it was Mac, that would be fine. Wash and Lott as well, if their species were so inclined to do so. But from my understanding, you're just a friend, and that isn't close enough to be putting that strong of a scent on her."

He had to bury Korone in his clothes and blankets because he couldn't even TOUCH her to drown it out at the time. It was quite aggravating.

Miyuni, meanwhile, is Paying Attention. Ears forward but relaxed, genuinely interested in listening to what he has to say. "Yours like," she trills something, a snippet of wordless, gently weighted song, and somehow — in a way that likely won't surprise Macaque at all — it perfectly encapsulates the nuance in a way English never could. "That kinda yours? Gotcha, gotcha."

Her ears give a gentle swish of a flick, almost reminiscent of a cat's tail when they're thinking. "Friends is close-ish for me n' Choco. Bit more to it, along the lines of fledgling under the wing. But! Key point here is, she's your mate, your family, and it was a stressful time to boot, yeah? I crossed a line and it made you understandably uncomfortable. That's my bad and I 'preciate the clarity. Ta."

Standing beside Miyuni, Macaque slips his hand into hers. She's being graceful about something that could easily have been a giant misunderstanding and he appreciates it, but mostly he just likes holding her hand.

"Sounds like things are clear, now." Since Miyuni has essentially said that it won't happen again.

"Speaking of mates, Donnie I wasn't sure if you knew that Miyuni is mine, now." Which he's saying because, they're not family, but sort of possibly adjacent to that.

All shall perish.

Donnie tilts his head at the trill. "Yes, that," he said. The things he can understand. Neurotypical communication? Its half gibberish to him. Musical notes vibrating to yourself? Totally crystal clear.

There is a twitch to his hands, a slight shuddering of his expression, his voice, which had been blunt and factual, now more monotone. "Being a teacher does not give permission for that kind of closeness." A hand on his shoulder he didn't want, but had to accept for health and Nine and MK's safety-

He taps at his legs. "But your understanding is appreciated. It seemed likely to be a misunderstanding, especially since Choco is still learning all her own personal nuances."

He looks to Macaque as he speaks. "What?" He pauses. "That's-how many sinks is that now?"

More crystal clear than usual, even! Miyuni's songs — even an itsy-bitsy tiny fragment like that, with barely any power behind it — are exceptionally evocative. Maybe she'll get a chance to demonstrate for realsies later. Just a little. As a treat.

— Oh! Hand! Hello, hand. She gives it an affectionate squeeze and flashes Macaque a smile. … Though it fades slightly, edging towards a frown, when Donnie twitches. Definitely a frown at the actual words he says. "It absolutely bloody well does not give permission, no," she replies firmly.

It's almost like she has her own Thoughts and Feelings about boundaries, touch, and boundaries relating to touch. Ha, ha.

"I'm a big fan of communication. Big, big." Mild allergy to vulnerability aside,,, "Speakin' of communication and nuance. Her headbutt thing is new. Reads to me like scenting, but is that how she means it, d'you know?"

She'll let Macaque field the question about sinks. Or fluster over the question. Heh.

Macaque might have said something at the implication of Miyuni being Choco's teacher, which she isn't, but then Donnie has to bring up the sinks and his face flushes again.

"Three more. Lucifer, Miyuni, and Wash." That's...........

Okay it's a full house in there.

Donnie nods. Yes, good, she understands. Teacher does not mean teaching rights! Macaque just got to dad right Real Fast.

"...unclear. I think she adopted it from me and two of my brothers. Turtles do it. I would be willing to do it to friends who have not shown touch aversions, but I believe she mostly saw me do it done amongst my brothers, so I don't know where she's ranked it," he said. He shrugs. "The means to show affection when you are a quadruped and have limited mobility range in legs means the head is the best means for casual affection. For normal turtles. Which I retained even after mutation."

"She had adopted many traits from my family and some from birds. I think its having open exposure to other neurodivergents for the first time, so she can figure out the ticks that have calming affects like we already knew, and there are a number of similarities between birds and turtles that isn't present in humans."

He hummed. "Okay, that's good. That means the system nice and well balanced. If you get more mates, try to make it divisible by three, it makes everything more uniform when I have to make adjustments into other rooms. Luckily the lazy river pathway is adjacent where I can take up space from there."

She returns his nod with a nod of her own, and throws in a double thumbs up. She gets you, Donnie. She gets you.

"Translating instincts n' body language across can be a bitch and a half," Miyuni says. She gestures to herself. "This was my super sneaky Yes I'm totally a human definitely not a big fluffy space dragon don't mind me disguise."

She might have said more, but … Macaque's face.

Divisible by three. Oh my god. Incredible. She laughs brightly, musically, grinning. "Okay, first — before I forget — I gotta point out I'm not Choco's teacher. I'm rubbish at teaching. But. Donnie, kid, those sinks? That bathroom? Bloody fantastic."

"Divisible--" Seriously?

Macaque stops and smiles, shaking his head. "Whatever you say, kiddo." It's not like he has plans to get more mates (but also not like he exactly planned to have this many).

He leans over and bumps Miyuni's shoulder with his when she spots him all flustered. He doesn't mind her getting a kick out of his minor misery.

"Body language is a confusing mistress. When its just animals, its easy to understand, but the moment there's a verbal component in the species, its all...muddled," he said, waving a hand in the air. "I can understand a regular turtle than my brother's body language, even Raph, who retains the most turtleisms besides myself."

"Is that not what taking under your wing means?" He asked, frowning in confusion.

"Choco and I wanted to make a comfortable place for Papaque. And space in bathrooms are important. People are most vulnerable when sleeping and when taking care of hygienic needs, and having a place where Macaque can bring his mates to freshen up should allow them to feel more welcome. Its just also a place to store things and the aesthetics were already being pushed with four sinks, so it would be better to simply make things easy to switch out with what is already present to make sure things look nice, but still achieve a sense of welcoming. I'm sure I can make storage in the shelves convenient enough with their sorting and keeping things in place enough to not result in jumbled bathroom supplies."

There is a pause. He looks at Macaque. "Divisible by three, or one more if you're willing to have your sink switch out, I just figured that would be more inconvenient since then you could not get ready with them in the morning or at night since they'd be sharing your space, but it would still be uniform in construction plans."

Sorry he's like this, Macaque.

Comfy, welcoming, and useful it very much is. You kids should be proud of yourselves.

[ It's like shoulder bumping a warm, fluffy mountain. A warm, fluffy mountain that responds with a cheerful snicker, leaning her head down to briefly rub her cheek on his hair. ]

'bout the wording — you might be right. [ She has very little shame in admitting when she doesn't know something. ] Don't mind admitting I'm more a singer than a linguisticer. Sound n' music is how I "see" the world and all the things. [ All the things. ]

When Miyuni rubs her cheek against his hair, Macaque grins like a fool. Someone stick a fork in him, he's absolutely cooked.

He looks at Donnie when addressed, though. He will always prioritize his kids, even when he's beside the most wonderful woman in the multiverse.

"I appreciate your telling me the limitations. I don't plan on acquiring any more mates at present, but if I do your construction plans are noted." He's beyond happy with the mates he has.

"Could I ask for Lucifer's sink to be duck themed and Wash's to be cat themed? If it's not too much trouble. I imagine that Choco will have a great time decorating if I let her." He turns to Miyuni -- goodness, she's gorgeous, he's struck by it every single time. "Any requests for a sink of your own?"
