"This really can't wait-" Sunset protests as she's being guided out of a hair salon by a taller woman.
"Ma'am, you need to calm down. The police are on their way and then they can review the tapes," the woman said.
"But the longer we wait-"
"And you will stay out here until they do, or until you calm down!" The woman snapped.
"But-" Sunset starts.
"The police will get here when they get here!" The woman snapped, pulling the door shut and locking it when Sunset goes for the door.
Sunset glares and then turns away, letting out a frustrated shout, and slumps against the wall, face in hands. Ignoring anyone staring, as she tries to breathe and calm down her near panic.
There was a suckerpunch of sensation out of that whole exchange. Cole had been passing by, but even if he hadn't heard it all, the expulsion of distress and frustration would have alerted him just the same.
He walked over, recognizing Sunset from that one phone game, and from the Hotel. He hadn't spoken to her since the game. Thing had happened and he just hadn't...but he wasn't going to pretend not to notice.
Sunset doesn't answer right away. She recognized the voice. Cole, she thinks?
She takes a deep breath and lets it out, lowering her hands to look at him. "My bag got stolen while I was getting my hair done," she said. "My bag with my phone and two magic items."
"A big problem. The barrette would be annoying, but fine. Even if they ended up a unicorn, it takes months of practice to levitate anything heavier than a large water bucket with a teacher, but if they put on my necklace, it could be a big problem really quickly," she said.
As in absolutely mayhem.
"The store has cameras, but they won't let me see the tape until the police are here. And I get its security, but the longer my necklace is gone, the more likely something bad will happen. So if you could help, it would be...really, really appreciated. I'd owe you big time."
"...you wouldn't owe me anything," Cole said simply. "It's the right thing to do."
Mentally checking his list of potential tools, he considered where to start. Best to at the beginning. "What does the bag look like? And the necklace. Just in case. Anything you can tell me will help."
For Cole

"What happened? If you don't mind me prying..."

Re: For Cole
From the little he's seen of her that's the safest guess. "Do you want a hand finding your bag...? I could help with at least that much."
