[Closed] Family Dinner
WHO: Lucifer Morningstar, Charlie Morningstar, and The Six Eared Macaque
WHAT: A dinner with Lucifer, his daughter, and his new boyfriend
WHEN: September 22nd
WHERE: The Haven Hotel - Lucifer's Suite
WARNINGS: Lucifer being cringe, most likely.
Lucifer got the date for the dinner moved back a night thanks to a birthday party he had been invited to. He had made sure to go over the menu a few times for tonight. Making a vegetarian meal for the occasion. Macaque preferred raw vegetables and fruits but he knew he would like a few things cooked. So the devil had made sure to prepare lovely fruit sushi, a collection of dishes made of grains, vegetables, and some fruit. To top it all off, apple pie and mango sorbet.
He looked at the food and wondered only now if this was too much for the three of them. Oh well. No way to rewind time and undo some of this. He looked at his phone and it was almost time. The door to his suite was unlocked and he made sure the table was set. To say Lucifer was nervous would be an understatement. This was something, at least in his mind, that was huge. A lot was riding on this night. At least, he thought it was. He knew it was.
Lucifer looked at himself in the full mirror in his room and adjusted his hair, put on his hat, and gave himself a nervous smile.
"It's fine. It's fiiiiine. Everything is going to be fine. Heh. Heh heh," He chuckled nervously and looked to the rubber ducky sitting on his bed.
"Oh shut up, depression," He said before he headed into the main sitting room to wait for the first knock on the door.

He has a dish in his hands, peking toffee apples. He well knows that Lucifer probably made dessert already but he wanted to bring something from his culture.
When the door his answered, his smile blooms into a larger one. "Hi there. Reservation for three."
no subject
"Oh ho ho. Yes. Your table is ready. Hmm. I see you brought something. A sweet treat~" He grinned. The pie and sorbet could always be taken home by people. He was going to eat those apples alright.
"You look lovely, by the way."

Meeting her dad's boyfriend.
That alone still felt a bit weird to think about but not in a bad way. Either way, she offered a smile and a small wave. "Hey, dad." She could totally do this and it was gonna be fine.
no subject
"Charlie, I presume. It's so nice to meet you. Your father talks about you all the time." He smiles at both her and the memory of Lucifer's bragging. He's a dad himself, he gets it.
no subject
"Hello Charlie! Yes, welcome in. Heh. Yes. This is Macaque. Macaque, this is indeed Charlie. Heh. I only say nice things and I haven't shown any of your baby pictures, I promise."
no subject
"Good to know. Though at this point I'm sure it's just a matter of time before you show them to him." She meant it very much good naturedly, full of energy and psyched to get to meet someone who seemed to make her dad very happy.

He laughs softly at the baby picture thing. "Your father is terribly proud of you, so I wouldn't be shocked if he did break them out at some point."

She pushed that thought aside, mind brimming with a great number of questions. "Six ears? I'm not familiar with that too much, but!" Charlie held up a hand with just as much enthusiasm as before. "I am up for listening to some tales of your home sometime!" Now that was out of the way, it was about the time she realized her dad had indeed headed out of the room to grab the appetizers.
Charlie couldn't help the brief moment of sheepishness that showed up at Macaque's words, mentioning her father's pride in her which came as a distraction. Momentary, but still. "Would you mind me asking when you guys met? Seems like a good one to start with, I think."
no subject
"My home is pretty crazy sometimes, but you know, it's home." At least she won't be terribly troubled by the whole rebellion against Heaven thing. Heaven just sucks everywhere, doesn't it?
"How we met... well, it's a little funny. My daughter was trapped in hell for a while, and that version of it had a game show for torture that she was stuck in. So when I heard that one of the people running the new hotel where she wanted to have a meeting with someone she didn't feel safe with at the time was the King of Hell, I went there to confront him. Make sure he wasn't going to hurt her again, you know? But your father told me that he wasn't from the same hell, and that he found the whole idea gross but didn't blame me for looking out for my kid, and we started talking. I'm a big fan of musical theater and so is he, and it was nice that he also has a daughter who he'd do anything for." He's not outright going to say that parental protectiveness is sexy as anything, but it is.
"I invited him to the theater, and the rest is history. But... I do want to tell you that I understand and appreciate your mother's place in both your lives. When I asked him out, your father's first thought was of her. He looked at his wedding ring. I can imagine that's on your mind. So just so it's upfront, I would never want to even try to replace her. I know that your father still loves her and I wouldn't get in the way of that. If she came back to him, I'd be happy that he was happy. And you." The beauty of polyamory is that he can accept these things easily enough.
no subject
"We actually sang together too. He's leaving that part out," he said. The ring in question was still very much on his finger.
"So to start, I made fruit sushi. I also have caviar too if you're feeling fancy. Aaaand I happened to discover mango wine exists. Got a few bottles here for us, if we feel like it. I hope you both came hungry."

She wasn't entirely sure of how much her dad's said about their home being a bit crazy but what mattered was that it sounded like he got it. Not that Charlie intended to focus on that a whole lot when he began speaking of the time the two of them had met, all with rapt attention.
Which meant her eyes went a bit big with awe when Macaque said he liked musical theater too, in where Charlie knew she'd have to talk about that. Eventually. There was a lot to take in but the most important aspects she could pick up on was that he was a dad too and so he knew what that was like, though it didn't at all hurt that the guy seemed like a really good person as far as she could figure here. It made her feel silly for being so apprehensive about everything.
Charlie's eyes went a bit wide for a second, then glanced away briefly as she didn't think her thoughts on this were so obvious that someone could pick up on them. Something that had her wringing her hands as she listened, exhaling a soft breath by the time Macaque finished speaking.
"O-Oh. I didn't really think you were going to try and replace my mom or anything but... You know. That's great. Really!" Her expression then softened to a smile once more, gentle and warm. She would have added more but heard her dad's interjection, causing Charlie to blink before her hand raised to clasp over her chest. "You sang with each other? That's so sweet, dad!!"
Right. Distracted. She laughed sheepishly. "Almost forgot about all that. I absolutely did come hungry! Can't wait to see what you've put together!"
no subject
"Yes, we sang together too. He has a wonderful voice, fortunately I was able to keep up." Macaque doesn't seem embarrassed in the slightest, more amused.
"Same here, I haven't had your cooking before. Fruit sushi was always going to be a winner with me, so you're off to a wonderful start." He tosses a slightly sheepish grin Charlie's way. "I'm only starting to eat cooked food. Monkey diets are mostly raw produce. It's quite different, but it's been fun to expxlore."
"And I did bring a dessert from my culture. They're basically fried apple pieces tossed in caramel sauce." Knowing Lucifer's love of apples, he absolutely had to.
no subject
"So then. While we snack on these delicious morsels, how were your days? Good, I hope."
