it's honestly the outcome he'd expected, and his eyes glance towards her at the sigh. }
Unless we were here at the time, it seems unlikely. You saw how it responded after we'd revealed it. To a regular civilian... they'd have very little chance. All we can hope is that it was swift.
{ and while she picks off scales, he'll use his sword to try and cut out some of its many teeth. when it comes to its eyes-- }
You may wish to turn away for this. { they probably should have brought some kind of bags for these... }
[ It's extremely unfortunate situation but he's correct. The both of them are talented vision holders and they still had to fight for their safety, it would have easily taken an unlucky civilian out in one swoop.
She nods in agreement, hoping that the poor victim didn't suffer. At least the quest giver will have some closer even if it's the worst possible news. ]
Ahaha, well this certainly ain't my first rodeo cutting up a fish...
[ Being the country bumpkin that she is, Yoimiya is familiar with catching fish by the riverside and gutting them for dinner.
Suddenly, Yoimiya comes to a realization and starts digging in her knapsack she prepared for this trip. Inside, there's a couple of water bottles and snacks she brought in case this quest got prolonged. She empties out the contents, pulling out two plastic bags from the supermaket she purchased the snacks from. ]
{ she's right about that. it's a shame they likely can't recover anything too. he isn't sure what the locals' customs are for funerals, but he knows someone who may have figured that out by now.
do they have anything for when a body isn't found?
it's rather a grim question to drop on a young girl, but for someone who was so flippant about it--he can't say he thinks it will be an issue. }
Ah, that would certainly be helpful.
{ and there's a little relief that she doesn't squirm away entirely as he does take out one of its eyes too.
into the bag it goes. }
We may wish to burn the remains as well, just in case.
[ Thank goodness Ellipsa summoned Hu Tao into this world...
Speaking of pyro, did Ayato say burning??? Yoimiya's got this one in the bag! Her golden eyes glisten at his suggestion, nodding her head in excitement as she steps back to aim her bow and arrow at the dead fish carcass. There's a part of her that would like to extract extra revenge for the quest giver's fallen friend. ]
Hehe, you got the right gal for the job!
[ She'll have her pyro infused bows prepped and ready to fire, but she'll only shoot whenever Ayato has collected enough samples and is... safely out of the way. ]
but truly, the one who can help right now is not hu tao, but yoimiya. he finishes placing the parts in the bag she offers, cleaning off his hands as best as he can after. thankfully it wasn't too bad with the use of his sword for leverage, but still pretty gross.
then he's taking said bag and stepping back. }
Go ahead. Thank you for the assistance. { it feels strange to be saying this to someone else, but at least it's just a monster on the floor--something they killed together to make the place safer. }
[ With Ayato safely out of the way, she shoots off several pyro-infused arrows right at the monster's carcass. Might be a bit overkill but she wants to make absolutely certain that this eyesore burns. They weren't able to save the friend of the quest giver so it feels a little cathartic to see this creature scorch into flames.
Yoimiya's expert control over fire does the trick, the angler fish in complete flames, charring up to the point of smoke. Soon, it will be nothing but ashes. Admittedly, the smell is kind of bad but that's all part of the job. She's not too bothered by it. ]
Thank you for joining me on this quest. I honestly had no idea what we were going to be up against but your hydro powers really saved the day.
[ With the monster's control over fire, Yoimiya has a sneaking suspicion that this mission wouldn't have ended so smoothly if Ayato didn't accompany her. ]
We should work together again! I think we made a pretty great team.
{ it's a lot quicker than he expects, the way her fire arrows rain down on the angler fish and char it to the point it becomes nothing but mere ashes on the ground. the stench really is something else, but it's easy to ignore when they consider the grand scheme of things.
that one, at least, won't be able to harm a person again. }
It was a rather vague quest, neither of us knew what we'd find here. I'm glad I had your aid, however, it certainly made things much quicker. Nor would I have an issue with teaming up with you again. It's been a pleasure--well, so to speak.
{ gestures to where the angler fish had been moments ago. working with her? yes. that thing? no, definitely not. }
[ Yoimiya nods her head in satisfaction at the sight of the angler fish completely scorched down into ashes. Good riddance! She lowers her bow to dust of her hands, feeling pleased at a job well done.
The fate of the quest giver's friend still weighs heavily on her mind but Ayato's agreement to teaming up for future escapades lifts her spirits. 😊!!!! ]
It will be an honor to team up with you again! I'm already looking forward to our next adventure. We can be Team Boba Fireworks!
[ The other suggestion is Team YoiYato..... is that better? probably not. ]
[ Bless you for agreeing to her stupid name suggestion, Ayato. Henceforth, these two shall be known as Team Boba Fireworks!!! 🎆 ]
Yes! We have lots to report back.
[ She owes Ayato big time today, not only for taking down the creature but also lifting her spirits when she was down about the unfortunate ending to the quest giver's friend. The usual pep in her step has come back as they make the journey back to the city with a bit of newfound hope that their findings will be able to prevent any more victims. ]
{ now would a boba fireworks drink just be chilli flavoured? thankfully it isn't something he'll consider, at least not at the moment.
perhaps when he reflects back on this later.
for now, he'll follow her lead to go back to the city, bag still in hand, so they can submit their findings and announce the information needed for the bestiary. at least now their work there is done, that will be one less angler fish to lure someone in to be eaten. }

Very well. If you find any you'd be interested in having me aid you with, feel free to ask. I'll try and make the time.

For now, let's head back to one of the guilds and make a report of our findings. I imagine they'll wish to be notified right away.
