Event #7: Sweet Dreams Are Made of Glitches (Outside the Metaverse)

Sweet Dreams Are Made of Glitches
LOGS | NETWORK | OOC | MEMES | NAVIGATION
On March 14th, everyone received a message. The Research Center is ready to try another test to find ways to beat the Darkness. This time the test is not done with the mecha that were previously used, but instead everyone who volunteers will be participating in a virtual reality simulator. They're asked to come over to the Center on March 15th.
The participants will be provided with different kind of treats. All of them are meant to benefit the virtual reality experience. The savory ones keep hunger at bay for longer periods of time, also providing a lot of energy, while the sweet ones help keep touch energy stable for a longer time (both of these are new inventions and will be available at Riki's after this as a freebie; the sweets are not a permanent solution to touch energy, but it will help in a pinch).
Everyone is then told that the metaverse will provide them with free virtual items. They will have access to an menu that they can test while they eat and see what options they have. There they will see that all their seasonal abilities will be available for them - including all of the animal transformations they can access.
The researchers will explain that the purpose of this simulation is to see how several fully powered power holders fare against the Darkness. They have gathered enough data on it and the dark energy in general to determine the effects it will have on nature, monsters and wildlife if the barrier is taken off. This is the only safe way to actually test their theories.
People participating are supposed to feel no pain during fighting, and if they die in the simulator they just get booted out. After that they can choose to take a break, quit or return to the simulator.
There are several rooms reserved for the test. Each of them has several comfortable chairs, where participants are asked to put a device around their arm so the scientists can make sure they're all fine during the simulator. Anyone can refuse this part, but it's recommended to follow the instructions for safety purposes.
Another device is the virtual reality goggles that will enable their access to the metaverse. Unlike with normal goggles, the participants won't be moving their physical body around and will instead be using their mind. This is enabled with both the power of science and magic, as is the whole simulator in general.
After all the explanations, everyone is asked to find a seat and put on all the devices they're comfortable with and log in to the metaverse. Anyone logging in may notice that there are a lot of glitches as they enter the metaverse.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the city, anyone looking at any kind of a screen (their own device, television, a digital advertisement, etc.) will have their mind sucked into the metaverse, due to the virus residing in the program. Their bodies will be left in a sleep-like state wherever they may be.
After the researchers realize there's something terribly wrong, the call goes out to everyone who knows their way around the computers to come help battle the virus in the virtual reality program. Everyone is given special glasses that will prevent them from being dragged into the metaverse accidentally. These glasses are also handed out to anyone else who wants to be extra secure, just outside the research center.
The virus they're battling comes from the Doctor, but as it stands, he's put a spell on himself to make himself comatose, so he can't be questioned about it. Anyone who has the dream walking/manipulating ability may try it on him, but the results will just be blocked by the Doctor's strong will and magic defenses he's created himself (even Sawyer, who tried it, failed, and he's the strongest Autumn Power Holder currently). Research Center and the Power Holders are working on finding solutions to bring him back so he can be properly questioned, but it hasn't been working.
Of course anyone helping out with figuring out the code will be provided with food and other necessities for free, with the promise they can take a break or quit anytime. Volunteers can also help by providing these necessities for the people working on computers - including the native researchers who are working endlessly.
Another job for the volunteers is to occasionally hold one of the participants hand, to provide them with touch energy and alert the staff if something seems wrong with their vitals.
Outside the Research Center, the four Power Holders are forming rescue parties to find people who have fallen asleep and pulled into the metaverse. The ones in Research Center are taken cared of, but who knows where some people have fallen asleep. It's important to get them to a safe space and make sure they have their touch energy needs also met during this time - especially since they didn't get the preparation meals before entering the metaverse.
After two weeks have passed, on March 31st, everyone who was in the metaverse will be able to return. Where they are and how they're positioned is probably an interesting way to readjust to the actual world. Someone might wake up holding hands with someone they've never met before, after all!
Free food and drinks will be provided to everyone by the fairy services, to make sure everyone gets their energy back for sleeping for so long. The food will be anything they want - all they need is to ask the fairy visiting them.
Helene, the leader of the Research Center, is personally apologizing about the mishappenings. The Doctor's virus had been impossible to notice before it activated (a proper Trojan Horse). She provides everyone who volunteered to help (in the test or after it went haywire) or was dragged into the metaverse by force 10000 Moon Coins as compensation for what happened, as well as a free voucher for a spa of their choice.
Any data gathered from the metaverse despite the chaotic situation is welcome with open arms, of course, and will be used further their efforts to fight the Darkness.

• This post is only for current players. The 4th wall post is happening here. Feel free to use this as a general mingle for other things happening while the event goes, too.
• Remember to ask players how they want their characters to be handled as they're sleeping! Everyone can also assume a native moved them to be close to someone if that's easier for them!
• Smut is not allowed on the event post, so if your thread is heading that way, please move it to a private entry of your own (your own entry or a new locked post on the comms).

[She does, in fact, visibly sag in relief, but then perks right back up.]
Oh, right- Have you seen anyone else unconscious in this area? Or anyone who might be in danger? We gotta spread these glasses as much as we can!

I haven' seen anyone, no. But why don' I help you spread the glasses? Might go faster that way.
