Conviction is sort of like that. How strong one's conviction is depends on how badly they want it. If you would of done anything to get out of that tower, then that's a pretty strong conviction. Trying something new sometimes results in an interest that develops into a goal. So, if you've never tried fighting before, perhaps starting out slow might reveal to you that you like it, and maybe even show that you could be good at it as well.
