You shouldn't call it human constructs. I understand that the sea is a harsh environment, but I think you're doing the merpeople an injustice if you say that they don't know right from wrong like we humans do.

And we certainly aren't just indulging in a fantasy! You can't possibly be that cynical. It's true that many of our worlds are likewise harsh, but it's all the more important that we support each other to survive! Our compassion and kindness for each other is a strength, not a weakness!
