Perhaps if he only thinks about fighting techniques. Mikasa is Levi's clear successor in that regard. But there's more to him than being a beast in combat -- at least that's what he'd like to think, especially now, when his combat abilities have been dampened by injuries and new limitations. And when it comes to thinking on his feet, adapting, doing his damnedest to make sure his people return home (and being heartbroken when they don't) -- Jean is just like him. At least the older Jean is, but Levi doesn't find him that different from the younger one. The paths they took there may differ, but they seem to have arrived at a similar place.
