Maru's tail wags excitedly over all this attention, and he starts flying again once Jean lets go, coming up to lick Marco's face a little in greeting.

"Yeah, but he'll get there."

Jean does make room for Marco to sit down, too, clearly accepting that he can come into his 'territory'. He even pats the couch, to invite him.
