Eren considers that. Galliard had been a little stand-offish when Eren ran into him, but he chalks that up to the whole being dumped into a new world thing. Someday he figures he'll see the man again and Galliard will realise who he is. He's not in any sort of hurry to get there, though. The peace everyone has cultivated is too tenuous, especially for someone like Eren. He hasn't broken his promise to Levi to be better, not really. He's pushed it, almost triggered loop holes on purpose, but hasn't broken it.

"Did you fight with him? Like me and Jean used to?"

Eren, for his part, is also surprised that they feel in sync with one another. Even Reiner older, that terrible future in Liberio, was a little out of sync, wasn't he? Maybe he was just out of sync with everything, though. Eren had pushed for some understanding between them. He still doesn't know if he achieved it; it wasn't like he'd stuck around to find out. Someday there will be another battle, a reckoning between them.

He thought once upon a time that maybe one day they'd just kill each other, consume each other and implode, destruction or mutual self-destruction. That last thing isn't impossible, but they're not fighting each other now. And Eren knows with a certainty that at home, Reiner will never kill him. He might try, but it's a tag team of Armin and Mikasa, isn't it?

It would be easier if it were Reiner, though.

He slots himself back into the present — this present — and slides his hand across the sand to find Reiner's. They're not destroying each other. They're grounding each other. He'd like to stay like this, in the eternal foreign summer, the fireflies and everyone's soft enjoyment of the night. In a weird way, maybe he can, wrap it up with all the other memories he holds that happen all at once and keep it, selfishly, the way he keeps Reiner.
