Happy Birthday, Amy Rose! (Open)

WHO: Amy Rose and YOU
WHAT: Amy’s throwing a birthday party and you’re invited!
WHEN: Frontdated to September 23
WHERE: Amy’s home, Blossomcrown
WARNINGS: Sweet things?

Amy raced across the house, trying to make sure everything was set up. Her birthday was today and she wanted it to look perfect. Cake, ice cream, drinks, maybe a few games here and there. It had to be the best - it was her eighteenth birthday after all!

Once everything was set up, Amy quickly raced outside, ready to meet anyone who saw her invite video and greet them.

“Hiii~! Thank you for coming! If you got a gift, just set it on the table to the side and make yourself at home!” She said to whoever arrived.

Alternative Angst Action!

No one came.

As the sun set, Amy sat at the steps of her home as she realized that no one showed up. A part of her knee that they had just got done with a big mission to save the fairy queen, but she kinda hoped that someone would show up.

With a heavy heart, Amy got up and slowly went to get rid of all the stuff she sat out. Such a waste of food, especially that ice cream. Once everything was cleaned up, Amy decided to grab one of the spare big tubs of ice cream and sit herself on the couch, eating away as tears finally welled up in her eyes.

Oryou is here as promised.

[With a gift! ...A stuffed frog.

Well, at least she didn't bring a real one.]

Oryou has a big personality, so you don't need any other guests. But more will probably come anyway.

[Gawain arrived in a fancy mostly-black dress, holding a large box in her hands. When she hands it to Amy, she takes the lid off to reveal a near obscene amount of cookies.]

I apologize for not having a proper gift, Miss Rose. I've only recently gotten my bearings, and I am not familiar enough with neither the surrounding stores nor yourself to pick out something suitable.

Regardless, arriving without a gift to give is simply poor manners. I hope what few baked goods I was able to make in the time I had are enough to make up for the faux pas.
houndofmanchester: (A fine idea.)

I thank you for your hospitality.

[Gawain steps inside, maybe having to duck a bit to get past the doorframe.]

I was hoping we could talk. While I'm well aware that you yourself aren't fae, you bear a striking resemblance to a Fang Clan faerie nonetheless. And as I've seen, your aptitude for combat matches ours as well. I feel like we could have much in common.

You must have improved quickly, then. It took me nearly fifty years to wield a sword with any skill, and a hundred and fifty more to reach the mastery I hold today.

Four hundred and nineteen, but who's counting?

While my world was certainly dangerous, I wouldn't say it was frequently in danger itself. I had the luxury of simply letting Her Majesty's knights handle the worst of it while I learned. It wasn't until the Caterpillar War about a hundred years ago that I became a knight in my own right.

Faerie Britain had been plagued by a particular type of Mors, a poisonous faerie-hunting beast. These Mors took the form of, of course, caterpillars. They ate away at the land itself, consuming the faerie corpses that made it. While High Queen Morgan has unparalleled power, she does have a singular weakness. When confronted with their insect-like forms, she made a sound nobody had heard from her before or since and simply left the battlefield.

In her absence, I took my blade to the problem. I challenged the Duke of Cornwall, Foul Weather, to a duel, and upon my victory consumed both him and his power. Armed as such, I was able to bring defeat to the beasts. Her Majesty rewarded my valor with the title of Faerie Knight, the first in two thousand years. Even now I wear it with pride.

[It's a nice story, but wow were those some messed up things she just casually mentioned.]

Foul Weather was fully aware of the stakes of the duel, I assure you. Had I felt there was another way, I would have taken it. But while his defensive powers were second to none, his offense was sadly lacking. He could not have turned the tide with his Fae Domain, and I could not have without it.

Is there a problem with that? You would be hard pressed to find a faerie warrior that doesn't employ magic in some way. As for not fighting before, I find there's little shame in that either. To engage in a battle you don't believe you are ready for is a mark of desperation, not courage.

I'll admit, I didn't interact with the younger humans much, so the concept of children is still largely foreign to me. I understand on an intellectual level that there must be some problem with simply skipping the weaker years of formation, but practically I'm having trouble seeing it.

...Forgive me, I'm still having issues parsing what the trouble is. Faeries are born fully grown, the only barrier between old and young for us is amount of life experience.
