[As so often, Hijikata is softer on the beings he forms bonds with on other worlds than on his subordinates back home... granted, his men are terribly undisciplined and, in part, irreverent (outside of serious arcs, at least; they do show their discipline when shit hits the fan!).
Medusa already told him the story of how Pegasus came into the world, born from her blood right after she was killed - and belatedly he remembers, too, that Heroic Spirits forget each summoning after they return to the Throne of Heroes (that is how it works, isn't it?), making his question one that's hard to answer for her. But she answers nonetheless, and the answer is... unexpected.
His brother..? He wasn't aware that there were two being born from Medusa's dead body. Granted, he only inquired about Pegasus back on their quest in the Summer Segment, and she presumably saw no need to delve deeper into these painful matters. She misses him, hm. It seems that she can only summon Pegasus, and even that is a painful undertaking each time.
And then, she surprises him even more with her words to her mount-- no, her child.]
