[ This has been a long time coming. Two best friends hang out with their boyfriends! (Or boyfriend and beau.) Fortunately, the cold weather has passed, and everything seems to be back to normal. Before ringing the doorbell to Yoimiya's apartment, Cloud and Ayaka stopped by a place to get some drinks and snacks to bring. There's tea leaves (because Ayaka...............), but it was Cloud's suggestion to buy some beers and a bottle of vodka. For snacks, a box of tiny cakes, a few bags of chips, and Yan Yans. They make for a good dessert!

Everyone's cheerful and in a good mood once introduction's have been made. Once the food's ready and everyone's seated, it's time to dig in! It's best to have a full stomach before playing a bunch of video games, after all. Whatever they may be... ]

What kind of games are we going to play? [ Ayaka does not know anything. ] There was a game that Cloud and I played recently. There was a tower made from blocks, and we would pull a block out, answer the question written on it, then put it at the top.

It was fun. The questions were a little embarrassing, though.

[ Her heart might leap out of her chest from how fast and loud it's beating, and even when the race finishes and Cloud's stopped running and is standing still, she does not let go immediately. She only does if Cloud lets her down first, on her wobbly ankles and all. ]

Goodness, it has been so many years since someone carried me like that. [ Back in the day, it would be Ayato, of course. But he would not run around! That would be improper, after all. So this? This would have been Ayaka's first time experiencing something like it.

Excitement and thrills are all well and fun, and she's not one to waver in the face of conflict, but she might need some time getting used to this. ] I'm alright, Yoimiya. Thank you for asking.

[ Albeit a little dizzy from having her eyes closed the whole time while mobile. But she'll be okay! ]

I suppose a congratulations is in order to both of you.

[ She passes Cloud a shy and awkward smile. She is sorry she made you lose, beau... ]

[ While Cloud does his best to keep up, let alone close the gap, despite what he does gain on the other couple as his momentum builds, it's ultimately a case of "too little, too late". Especially when Tartaglia pours on the juice on the final stretch. Any quicker and it'd feel like he was splitting the wind around him, it feels like! As impromptu as this was, now there's a part of him that was curious... Without their girlfriends on their back, just how fast could this guy really go? How hard can he hit? Cloud wasn't as hungry for battle as the Harbinger was, but that didn't mean he wasn't damn good at it— or against sharpening his skills every chance he can get.

But in the end, as he skids across the finish line, the burn in his calves and thighs would have lead to spasms if his body just wasn't built so different. Right now, his head was pounding, but not with any pain. A thrum rolls through his body as he finally lets out an exhale, watching on as Childe and Yoimiya celebrate their triumph.

Deep breath. In through his nose. Out his mouth in a long, almost-whistled blow before he kneels down to allow Ayaka to find solid ground. Wobbly as she was, Cloud wasted little time in turning around, still kneeling in front of her as his larger hands hold her waist to keep her steady. Then he's back to his feet, hands upon her shoulders when he asks, ]

You okay?

[ Pumping as this all was, it's clear where his priorities lied. Not that he imagines Tartaglia wouldn't put Yoimiya's safety first, either. But...

He spares a glance back over his shoulder back to the other couple, a hand slipping from Ayaka's shoulder while he turns around. Despite "losing", he still can't help but put up a little smile for the two. This was...honestly a day he wasn't going to forget easily. Not that he'd ever want to. ]

Way to make me eat my words. [ A beat. ] Good race.

[ He catches the shy little smile Ayaka offers him in his peripheral, turning his blue gaze to her as he returns the same gesture. The hand on her shoulder gives a little squeeze, as if to silently say that he's got her. Win or lose. ]

[He lets his passenger down to give him that big hug from behind, chuckling quietly and looking proud when Yoimiya sings his praises. He turns quietly to both Ayaka and Cloud, waiting patiently to approach the latter after they first converse with one another. He noticed what happened during the race, so it's only polite to give them a few moments and some space for Cloud to check on Ayaka. Granted, she looks like she's okay to him, and when it's all said and done he nods when acknowledged to offer a hand to Cloud.]

Well, thank you, to both of you, [he says as he addresses the two of them.] Next time, we'll have to go all out and see who'll come out on top.

[It's how he chooses to let Cloud know that he noticed that he was unable to give his all and was held back a bit by their arrangement here, and that he absolutely wants some kind of competition between the two of them. Preferably a spar, but that can be decided on later. Now's not the time.]

But for now, why don't we head back in and relax. We can play another game, perhaps watch a movie, or just sit and chat for a while. Yoimiya, I think now is a good time to serve dessert. Think you could grab it for us?

[ Relieved to hear that Ayaka is fine, Yoimiya's heart is at ease... not that she needs to worry since she's in good hands with Cloud right by her side. Even if this was a competition, he still placed Ayaka's needs above his own and for that, she considers the two of them winners in their own right. She happily hops off Tartaglia's back, her feet land on the grass with a slight PLOP, she also opts to give the other pair time to themselves, not wanting to interrupt their precious moment. ]

It was a thrilling race from start to finish! If we decide to do this again, I have a feeling the next time will be even more of a close call

[ She nods in agreement to Tartaglia's suggestion. This entire evening has been a blast and she'd love the chance to do this in the future. Winding down after all the hustle and bustle sounds like the perfect way to end this double date. ]

Of course! We have a really tasty Snezhnayan dessert that I think the two of you will enjoy.

[ Aaaaand, she's off! With a pep in her step, Yoimiya starts heading back to the house to get the dessert nice and ready. ]
