[Once he has freed Mukuro from her ghoulish captor, Hijikata swims straight upwards, relying on his strong tail to propel him. Every second counts in getting air back into her lungs! Once he breaks the surface, he pulls her to the shore, making sure her head stays above water. If a ghouplie were to attack the two of them now, it'd be troublesome, to say the least... but they get lucky.
Back on solid ground, he sits her down, supporting her back to keep her halfway upright. He doesn't even bother giving himself his legs back yet (thought he does mindlessly swap his gills back for lungs; he'll need those).]
