It's not ideal. But unless Hakkai has any rope on his person, then 'hold on' is about the best they can do.
Once Hakkai is securely in the Armored's palm, Reiner brings the hand close, resting the side of it against his chest. That will at least provide Hakkai with a wall of sorts. Then, Reiner rises to his feet, turning in the direction that the kelpie fled.
"You watch the right side," he says. "I'll watch the left."
