I. Arrival 🔶

[ Zhongli's arrival in Ellipsa is mundane and ordinary at best. However, He finds Nightwake fascinating, so his wanderings lead him throughout the city. His ponderous nature might lead him into getting lost easily as he isn't exactly paying attention to where he's going?? But, you know, all he has is time now so taking a leisurely stroll is just an ordinary occurrence for him. Getting lost in a big city with flashing lights and strange vehicles is very intriguing to him. But as the sun slowly lowers behind the horizon Zhongli will ask whoever he can find one simple question. ]

It would appear that I am somewhat lost. [ Zhongli??? ] Do you happen to have any idea how to get to these apartments we've been assigned? It seems I may have taken a wrong turn somewhere.

[ ZHONGLI?? ]

II. Blossomcrown 🌸

[ Being one with the spring element Zhongli found it most prudent to see this guild for himself. Though he might not join it quite yet (he is tired and retired) but seeing what it's about would probably be for the best. Though navigating his way through the city is actually a disaster?? What are cars...what are trams?! He is just stuck looking at the tram system's map with a bit of a lost expression though he does remain ever impassive as he folds his arms across his chest. ]

Perhaps another stroll would be for the best...

III. Not All That Glitters is Gold ✨

[ No need to elaborate with this quest. Zhongl is all about the shiny and interesting stones and it's from an entirely new world?! Sign him the fuck up. Sorry for whoever gets paired up with him. He is an actual idiot and will definitely talk your ear off about whatever gems he does find. And lo and behold he totally found a necklace or something with a rather pretty emerald nestled in it. ]

Hm. This gem is cut in quite an unusual way. However, the edges have been worn down in a precise manner to indicate that true craftsmanship was taken when crafting this particular piece. The merchant was well-versed in their wares indeed. It's a wonder that anyone would find such a thing to be considered 'junk', clearly they were not familiar with nor studied in the arts of gem cutting. To relieve oneself of such a fine piece of jewelry...that is the true tragedy of this quest. Why just tilting it a certain way in the sun's rays almost makes it seem to glow, does it not? A truly magnificent piece...

[ It would be more so if Zhongli's ankles weren't being gnawed on by Gem biters?? But he doesn't even seem to notice...help??? ]

IV. Flowers for the Sun ☀️

[ Zhongli probably sticks out like a sore thumb given his attire and general stoic disposition. He does smile when/if approached though and he seems to have the spirit to give it a shot. ]

I am not particularly well-versed in such things. But if I were to have an astute and proficient teacher I would be more than glad to help assist in making flower crowns with you. [ Nailed it. ]

But first, we must acquire them, correct? No need to fret. I will keep us safe should the time call for it. Let us enjoy ourselves in the meantime and perhaps we might get to know one another along the way. You may call me Zhongli, it's a pleasure.

V. Maybe It Bugs Me 🦗

[ When it comes to fighting Zhongli is an good as it gets. After all who has over 6000 years of experience and the title of the warrior god here? Zhongli doesn't seem like much and he doesn't even look worried despite his outward appearance but his spear is at the ready as he enters the Mapleline forest. ]

Look sharp. I sense that the further we descend into this forest the more unwelcomed we will be.

VI. Experimente(a)nting NSFW: closed to 21+ please! 🍵

[ Given his status as an archon the effects of these teas are not something he's too terribly worried about? But boy did he miscalculate!! But tea is one of his passions and trying new and innovative ones is something this old blockhead is more than open to. The contract that needs to be signed is an added bonus considering he is the god of contracts, he is pleased to say the least. But Zhongli will silently sip on his prepared tea, eyes closed for the moment as he savors the taste. ] Hm. Subtle but has a lingering flavor on the tongue. Not too earthy with hints of vanilla and...cinnamon. Indeed this is a fine cup of tea, more so when shared with others.

[ Those golden eyes of his will open and pointedly stare (almost like they're peering into your soul??) directly at whoever has decided to join him. ] And what do you make of it, stranger? Does sharing a cup of this fine tea with another enhance its flavor?

[ Saya's in the middle of singing her enchantment to a deep red bearded iris in her ethereal voice when she glances up at a familiar voice. She's ready to greet him but -- oh. He's introducing himself. Okay, then. We're doing this all over again. ]

[ She makes a concerted effort not to let on that she's disappointed. She and Zhongli once managed to find a pleasant friendship, and that took a good deal of time so she hates to have lost it. She hates even more that this means he doesn't have his memories of Imeeji and what happened there, his time with Venti. Granted they have a long history, but still. It saddens her to think of all that being (still) lost. ]

[ However, if there's anyone who knows the immense pressure of someone who claims to know you when you don't know them, the discomfort of that, feeling like there's expectations you can't meet, it's Saya. She won't let that happen, not if she can help it. ]

Of course. [ She waves at the grassy area around her which has plenty of flowers to choose from. ] I'm good at all manner of useless skills and flower crowns happen to be one of them, and now you're here to help me gather them, so I guess we're both in luck.

[Judith is on one of her usual night time walks. She's always been restless and that hasn't changed, even with her arrival into Ellipsa and all. She turns (her nageeg swaying behind her a sure sign she wasn't entirely human, if her elven-like ears weren't obvious enough) and cocks her head, welcoming Zhongli's question with a smile]

Oh? You must have taken several wrong turns. You're quite a ways away from that area.

( Sorry, Zhongli, but you lost Hazel there for a moment. She found herself in a daze - completely missing all of his words from the warm feelings that are causing distraction. When the silence lingers and Hazel realises that he's asked her a question, she manages to tear herself away from his intense gaze to bubble out a surprised giggle. )

Oh, yes! Fine tea! Enhance flavour! ( Girl, repeating what he's just said doesn't prove that you were listening to him-- )

I-I mean ... ( She takes a breath, idly running her thumbs around the curved body of the warm cup in her hands. ) Sorry. I got a little distracted for a moment there. Yes, it's very fine tea. ( What was that about the company of others, though? ) I'm used to drinking it alone ... and while enjoying a fine beverage in solitude does have its perks, this is very nice. It's nice to have company for something indulgent instead of going solo.

I'm quite curious about the blend. ( Her lashes flutter as she takes another deep sip of tea. In any case, she can't seem to stop herself from staring at him. What a pretty face he has. ) Are you feeling warm at all, or is it just me?

[And here, Zhongli managed to find just the right person! It was the one and only Hu Tao, his boss! The moment she heard his voice, a huge smile appeared on her face. While it was distressing to know that he was gone before, she knew that she could manage her business without him. But now that he was here again? She couldn't help but give a giggle or two.]

[She stretched out her word as she stood on her toes. Pointing to a certain direction, she hoped that he knew it was way, way, way over there.]

[It's always a relief to see Zhongli, even if there's no recognition in his eyes. He was a solid, supportive presence on Heart Soldier Senshi, a teammate who Kantera could rely on. As sturdy as the rock he embodies.]

Ah, I'll gladly accompany you. My name is Kantera - I must confess I've heard much of you from Venti.

[This isn't a lie, because Venti does talk about Zhongli. But also, Kantera's not sure he can pretend to not know him at all.]

[As a researcher at heart, Lahabrea knows better than to tamper with unknown substances. However, when it comes down to tea—he can be a bit adventurous sometimes. While he has a couple of favorites that he honestly enjoys, Lahabrea wouldn’t be caught dead trying these peculiar teas. That’s why he settled for taking notes instead as others enjoy this unusual brew. He was just jotting down a few notes here and there when some man with unusual amber eyes glanced towards him. Lahabrea stares back in return, his red gaze unyielding as he regards the seemingly “young” man with a withering stare.

Is he a tea aficionado? He certainly talks like one judging from his comments. Lahabrea likes tea well enough but his poison of choice is coffee. After all, he’s quite a busy man and there’s quite like a hot cup of coffee to help you burn the midnight oil. Nevertheless, he can’t help but arch his brow in surprise when the young man speaks. He was just idly passing by when he stumbled across him. Lahabrea doesn’t know him from anywhere but he’s curious nonetheless.]

I cannot say since I haven’t tried.

[He answers tersely before peering at the cup.]

It seems like your average cup of tea. Although, I was assured that the brews presented here were anything but average.

[Should he try it? He didn’t initially plan to join but honestly, a cup of tea sounds rather tempting right now.]

[ Yes, indeed -- imagine running into a complete stranger as you engage in random scientific tomfoolery, not really aiming for anything more than some entertainment before wandering away, no strings attached.

And imagine, if you will, the shock that gives way to an unsteady mirth as the universe's stupidest man looks at you and nonchalantly asks your opinion on the tea. Imagine the hell this man -- but probably not this specific man -- has put you through without even once being aware of it. This dunderhead. This absolute buffoon.

Anyway.

Venti sweeps cheerfully into the seat across from Zhongli, all smiles with just a little too much fang at the edge. ]

Oh, no. I can tell this distinguished stranger is thoroughly well versed in the ways of tea. My untrained palate could not possibly be worth remarking upon.

A "gem"? Is that's called? I thought it was just a piece of coloured rock. Or glass.

[ Nen doesn't mind being paired up with the Actual Most Grandpa; it's been incredibly informative so far. He will talk about anything and everything that catches his eye at length, in the fullest and most contextualized explanations Nenonen has ever heard.

From a learning standpoint, it is great. Even if they don't understand all of the words he uses to explain things. ]

[ You know what? This is the third time she's met Zhongli, and she's just outright going to give up on telling him that she knows him. He might not remember her, after all! Best not to get embarrassed again.

She offers him a smile before gesturing to the path before them. She'll make no comment to being protected, even though she can defend herself. It's quite alright— at least he's capable. ]

Do you have a favourite flower?

[ Luckily, it's no surprise to Lumine that he's like this--nor is she unprepared for the critters in this place to be less than friendly. While he continues his lecture on the virtues of the cut of the gem he's admiring, Lumine is casually kicking and smacking the ankle-biters off him. ]

How does it compare to the ore back in Teyvat?

[ She should know better than to humor this if she'd like to get home any time today, but he just seems so happy. ]

If an astute and proficient teacher is what you need, I'm sure I can provide the necessary instruction.

[It barely occurs to Guizhong that Zhongli may not remember having been here already... nor remember having experienced the shock of seeing her already, as she primly seats herself next to him and shoots him a warm smile.

The various quests involving combat aren't ones she finds herself drawn to. Admittedly... when it comes to being pit against things that even humans can fight she would probably not find herself easily outmatched, but still, it isn't really in her nature to want to anyway.]

After all... it would not be the first time I had instructed you in something new, would it, Rex?

[Flynn looks at the man beside him. He had been so focused on what was around them, that he hadn't really been paying attention to Zhongli, so finally he unsheathes his sword and slows down a little bit.

Thankfully Flynn knew how to fight, and even he could feel something was off.]

Roger that. Let's keep our eyes sharp and ears open.

{ the trams and cars are a bit difficult to get used to, when they're more used to horses and carriages than anything else. thankfully ayato is on his way to the middle of blossomcrown to go to the park when he sees zhongli seeming very much like someone very new to the area in how they look at said cars and trams. }
