[Open Log] Just a normal kid doing normal things
WHO: Homura Akemi & You
WHAT: Some open prompts end of May/Start of June
WHEN: May/June
WHERE: Nightwake City
WARNINGS: Guns, a fourteen year old with guns and explosives
A: Shooting Range
[Homura had chosen a shooting range as unpopular as possible for various reasons. One of them was that it was unlikely she would run into familiar people as she tested different guns. Second was that the staff there didn't care how old she really was. Sure, one of them gave her a confused look, but money is money so he just let her in.
Since she no longer had the advantage of stopping time in large scale or for a long time, Homura worked hard on her precision on shooting. She had different handguns as well as rifles and even a machine gun (?!) she alterned between so she could se seen using any of them in the shooting range for practice.
Her expression was as passive as always with occasional frustration and hairflip if something went wrong.]
B: Shopping
[In the shadier areas of the Nightwake Center was where Homura went to buy supplies. She needed both more guns as well as things to build explosive with. Of course finding just bombs would be nice. She hadn't really ever shopped for this stuff, instead always stealing, so this was new and once again she got some confused looks, but since these were the shady streets, they sold her things like normal.
Perhaps you encounter her in one of the shops. Perhaps just walking in this very shady area of the city.]
C: Bomb testing
[Out in the safer parts of the Spring segment, Homura sometimes tests the grenades and bombs she's made abandoned buildings nothing lived in. There were plenty in this Segment, so they made good practice targets for the explosives. Sometimes she stopped to make notes.
Of course sometimes the bombs might be quite impactful if she used a little too much gun powder...]
D: Cake Shopping
[One healthier habit of hers was to get some cake on the way home, to bring it to Madoka. She alternated between bakeries so they could test out the different flavors.
She's likely browsing options and trying to decide which one(s) to buy.]
E: Amberfall Library
[Homura's part-time job was shelving books that have been returned at the library. She spent a lot of time there, so she figured she'd occasinally help out. Usually she carries quite a stack of books with her to take back to the shelves.
Or she might be taking a break and reading something at the tables while snacking on something library appropriate.]

[ He listened to Hijikata and... well, you could hear the exasperated sigh on the other end. ]
Right. I'll be right there-- keep your GPS on and eyes on the person in question.
[ If it wasn't kids being brought here with guns, it was them going around and buying them. He had to wonder which kid it was that was going around doing this... ]
no subject
She makes sure to use time stop to make a sound on the far end of the street, to distract Hijikata long enough. While he is distracted, Homura puts the gun and everything she purchased into her hammerspace shield, like they never were in her possession. Instead she takes a package of something else out that looks almost exactly same as the gun case she had (she was prepared for trouble beforehand).
She continues to walk like nothing happened.]

There, the one with the long black hair. I've noticed her before. She seems like a loner who's way too into guns and explosives.
[He really has no idea what to make of her. This kid was embarking on a quest through the Jungle of Judgement all on her own, carrying bombs... at least now he has an idea of where she might have acquired those. He'll have to arrange for inspections and educational sessions for all the arms dealers in this quarter, won't he?
He falls back to watch Dojima deal with her. He's surprisingly good with kids, considering what a hardass he can be with Hijikata (unfair, really).]
no subject
[ Okay, how to handle this. A kid just casually walking into an arms dealer to buy weapons without seeming nervous at all struck him as... deeply odd. Was she American or something? No, didn't look like it.
...Also, that outfit...
Yeah. Something fishy was going on, but he'd talk to her first before making any decisions. ]
[ Just walking up behind her, giving her a bit of space-- ]
Excuse me, miss? I'd like to talk to you a moment.
[ Already pulling out his badge for if she asked. ]
no subject
Yes? Is there a problem?
no subject
I'm Officer Dojima, and we've had a report of someone matching your description buying a firearm from a local shop despite being underage.
[ Glancing at the case... ]
Would you allow me to take a look at the case you're carrying?
no subject
[She says, still smiling even if looking a bit "startled" at the news like a good actor, before handing over the case.
The case is a box of perfectly fine looking pastries. The name of the bakery is "Buns and Roses", which is clearly a pin on Guns and Roses, as the box does indeed look like a case.]
I usually don't come to this part of the town, but I really like the pastries this bakery does. Their aesthetic choices are a bit much, but they are a very good establishment.
no subject
[ Well then. Talk about committing to the bit. ]
They do look good. Probably too sweet for my taste, but I'm sure they're worth the trip.
[ He carefully closed the case, handing it back to her. ]
I'm sorry for disturbing you, miss...?
no subject
[She bows politely.]
I hope you'll have a good day.

[ --Akemi was the username of the person who warned them about that 'Incubator' thing, wasn't it? He'd need to check his notes at home.
All the same, with no proof and sign of any other bags, he didn't have a leg to stand on to investigate more. So offering her a small bow in return, he turned, heading back to Hijikata. ]
--It was a case full of Pasteries from a place called 'Buns and Roses'. Ring any bells, Hijikata?
no subject
What? 'Buns and Roses'? But--
[He pulls out his phone and show him the photograph he took.]
She came out of this gun shop with it!
[Sure, she could have bought the case with the pastries at the bakery beforehand (what kind of branding is that, seriously?!) and then visited the arms dealer, but...]
Let's go there and get confirmation from the employees!
[Surely there's no way they'd get nervous and lie once faced with two policemen... (spoiler: there is a way). He casts a look at Homura, who's presumably carrying on her merry way. What game is this girl playing?!]
no subject
But in an instant it's gone again and Homura continues on her way.]
no subject
Dojima, look!! Quick!!
[But by the time Dojima turns around the gun is gone, and Homura is innocently walking along.]
She waved a gun at me just now!! This brat is fucking with us!
no subject
...
[ ... So as Hijikata was about to say more, Dojima... more or less thunked the back of his hand against Hijikata's head. ]
Don't rubberneck.
[ Though Hijikata MIGHT notice it was no where near as hard as Dojima had used before on him. More of a 'knock it off' than a 'you dumbass'.
He'd lower his voice-- ]
And the moment I go over to check it, she'd make it disappear again.
no subject
...
How does she do it? Any ideas?
[He looks after the young girl once more, catching just one more glimpse of her back before she disappears in the crowd. What is she trying to do? What does she need so many weapons for?]
no subject
[ Sigh. Really, this was the Vice-Captain of the Shinsengumi?
He'd lean against the wall behind him, pulling his pack of cigarettes out of his pocket and holding it out to the other man to take one. ]
Beats me, and that's the problem.
[ Taking a long drag on his own-- ]
...Fact of the matter is, Hijikata, is we're regular humans. In my world, there was some supernatural stuff under the surface that I ignored during a case...
[ A long pause, and a glance to the side, an obvious grimace on his face-- ]
...And that was one of the biggest mistakes of my life. It bit me in the ass and nearly cost me my family. [ Looking back at Hijikata then-- ]
We're in a world now that other than Powers everyone else here has to some degree or another, and our training, we are bottom of the barrel. Magic? Science that might as well be magic?
[ He waved his hand, cigarette trailing smoke as he did. ]
We don't have the ability to tell the difference. So for all we know, that's some particular skill she has, something she developed here, or some sort of reality bending spell.
[ Putting the cigarette between his lips again... ]
...I've got some thoughts on how she was able to do it, as in, where the power came from, but I rather explain it later. For now, we're going to head into that store you said you saw her come out of, and politely ask for the security footage, if they have any.
no subject
You don't need to tell me that. I know we're at the bottom of the food chain, with only non-combatant standard humans below us.
[And those deserve their protection, of course - but sometimes (often) he wonders if all the superpowered otherworlders sharing this place with them couldn't do a far more effective job at that than them.]
But for this kid to be one of them... I'm interested in your theory, but alright, let's make a fire under those negligent arms dealers' asses first.
[So much for "politely"... maybe Dojima should leave him outside for this one, too.]
