Pokemon Fan Club March & April Mingle
WHO: Anyone
WHAT: Meetings for people who are interested in Pokemon
WHEN: Throughout March and April, midday
WHERE: Blossomcrown Central Park
WARNINGS: N/A
[ooc: If you want your character to get into Pokemon Contests, this is a good place to start! I’m going to try to have the 1st Contest be at the Arts Fest this year.]
[The area of Blossomcrown Central Park that Lisia has reserved for the Pokemon Fan Club is “roped off” with colorful Spring-themed garland. There are a couple long tables set up: One for store bought treats and drinks, and the other with little pamphlets. There are three types of pamphlets, since she doesn’t want this to solely be about her and Ali’s wants. There’s one talking about the basics of Pokemon, one about Pokemon Battles, and one about Pokemon Contests.
There are also several smaller tables with chairs around them where people can gather and chat about their Pokemon. And for the Pokemon she has bought a lot of Pokemon food and has them and water in several bowls. She also bought a few toys that she thought could be fun for any Pokemon coming as well.
If things get too much there is a tent set up a little bit away with a couple beanbags, as she remembers the Pokemon that was very nervous.
The main event for Lisia, though, comes about an hour into each meeting: Her introducing Contests! She has a handless mic hooked up to some speakers, and she and Ali, the Altaria, step into the middle of the venue area that she purposefully left empty.]
Hiiiii ev-er-y-bo-dy~! And welcome to the Pokemon Fan Club! I wanna keep most of these meetings pretty freeform, as a way for us all to talk about Pokemon in a way that suits us and our Pokemon partners best! Buuuuut for these first few meetings, I’m gonna have this little speech.
You may all be aware of how our Pokemon Partners are great companions, and some of you may even know the ins and outs of Pokemon Battles by now! But did you know there’s another way to enjoy life with your Partners? [She puts her hand to ear in an exaggerated motion. Regardless of what anyone may say, she’ll continue.] Whaaaat? You didn’t?! Well, not to worry! I’m here to introduce you dizzying, dazzling, doldrums defying world of Pokemon Contests!
Contests are a type of Pokemon competition where you don’t battle, but instead show off your charm points in Appeals, a series of moves set to a theme!
But its kinda boring just hearing about it, isn’t it? So that’s why, your local Contest Idols, Ali and I are going to an exhibition Appeal, right here, right now!
[ Lisia and Ali pose, and after a beat piano music begins to play from the speakers, they begin to move. Lisia dances elegantly, with large sweeping gestures, as she calls out moves in time with her steps. Mist covers the field, stopping just shy of the edge of the makeshift stage. From inside of the mist, Ali begins to chirp along with the song in a Round, while floating, colorful music notes push the mist away, gently restoring the ability to see the pair, just in time for Lisia to tap on the keystone attached to her tiara. A bright light engulfs Ali, as he flies upward, transforming into Mega Altaria. He breaks free from the light, and soars over the audience, giving them a good look at his new appearance, before returning to Lisia’s side. With a cry, Ali shoots several large, purple Draco Meteors to the sky. As the arc back around, surrounding the performing pair, Ali emits a pink Dazzling Gleam Destroying the meteors, leaving only pink and purple glitter raining down as the two coordinate their last steps and pose together.
Another beat, and Lisia’s back to her energetic self.]
That’s an example of an Appeal! The idea is to get creative with how to show off a Pokemon’s individual charm points! Today, I wanted to show off Ali’s grace and beauty, but maybe the Pokemon you want to show off is really cool or is good at using moves in clever ways! I plan on holding Pokemon Contests in Ellipsa as soon as I can, so start thinking about what makes your Partner special!
