[ kaveh decided to set up the paint & pour on the shores of prism lake, because a beautiful landscape seemed like something that artists of all skill level could enjoy creating. not to mention, it's also something that probably wouldn't suffer too much if/when guests inevitably started getting tispy. ]

[ there are three canopy tents framing the lake and, unsurprisingly, the first of which has all manner of art supplies: canvases, easels, and paints. the second has an assortment of delicious snacks made by shigeru and the third, final, and likely most anticipated has the wine. there are at least a dozen bottles, each labeled with the segment and shop it came from, because kaveh absolutely went around with the intention of helping them promote their business. ]

( ooc; feel free to assume that your character received an invitation from either kaveh or shigeru. it IS open to the public though, so if your character is strolling by and so much as makes eye contact with either of them, then they'll likely get dragged into the fun. anyway! bring your own top level~! )

Something about this place keeps doing that. Dragging me around to do things I'd rather not.

Not one for idle conversation, I take it? In that case, what would you rather be doing?

Not really... If I were to pick it'd be doing something more productive than having a party. Like figuring out a way to get out of here sooner than later.

[Which is maybe a little bit harsh. Everyone's trying to cope with living in this world.]

And have you come to any conclusions thus far? From what I've found, our quickest way would be solving the issue of the Darkness that has spread. Once the world is at peace again, we should have our wish of being sent home.

{ thankfully he's talking to one of the people pouring everything they have into figuring this out and living in this world. }

I've come across that much as well. But I still want to see what is at the edge of the cities and the outer lands that they keep saying are too dangerous. Dealing with whatever this darkness problem is would be our best bet and I wish people would focus on that.

[He's a little bitter. But that's only because he wants to go home. This isn't his world and he doesn't like the idea of being blackmailed into helping it.]

Is there anything you've found out yourself, yet? I did share my findings with people generally on the network here, though I'm aware not everyone uses their phone.

{ not everyone has a bleeding heart that wants people to be safe, but since you're in this world now squall, you should at least try and help for your own sake!! }

[Yup, he's learning that pretty quickly... He's going to have to help people. And he will. He does want to help people. He's just prickly and difficult about it. He misses his people.]

The amount of monsters out there varies by season and section. I was attacked by a treasure chest that sapped my magic and almost turned to stone. We're going to have to take learning our magic seriously. So, there's that.

[He raises his eyebrow. He doesn't use the network much so...]

Were you alone? I did recommend no one tries to take on quests by themselves for reasons such as that. Though the history of how the Darkness came to be is the thing I concentrated on my first week here. I was hoping that there may be some clue if I understood how is happened.

{ and so he'll iterate over the tragedy of greed, those with seasonal powers that tried to steal from others then met their downfall over time. one by one they succumbed to their deaths as natural disasters of their own.

bet squall didn't expect a history lesson here.

he'll gradually recount the information from here that is taken from the library books he read and from asking the power holders themselves. }

I wasn't alone that time, no.

[Squall falls silent at the rest of the comment and quietly nods as Ayato continues. He appreciates someone who can keep up with hefty information so he looks a smidge grateful.]

I see... You've really done your research. Kind of glad I ran into you.

[He'll admit that.]

So I'm guessing no one's allowed to gain more power than they should. Keep to their seasonal magic. Wouldn't want a repeat of history.

The matters at hand are concerning. While I recognise it's necessary to take breaks-- { he gestures around them, at the little gathering that's been put together } --there's still a lot more to be done.

And yes, from what I've been told from Olwen our summoning should have put a restraint on that. He seemed fairly confident none of us would be able to repeat history. Granted, I don't know the full extent of it, nor do I fully trust any of them, but for now all we have is their word.

... That's the thing. While all of that if fine and dandy we don't know if they'll return us to our worlds if we help them or not, either.

[Squall can't help but feel a bit like a sitting duck. But still...]

You're not wrong, though. Better to learn more and not burn ourselves out in the process.

[He's ...tired. But he's thankful for the grounding opinion.]

I'm aware. { and the smile he gives is a little strained at the edges. } But doing nothing is not very productive either. I'd much rather do something with the knowledge I have than nothing at all.

{ even if people he knows keep telling him to rest... apparently. }

[Squall asks only so he might be able to keep this person in mind if he finds anything else out that could be productive. Because this really is the first person he's met that has been genuinely concerned about their situation.]

{ honestly he's gone above and beyond so far as he's struggled to find many people willing to push as hard as he is as well. }

[Give him that ability anyday. Imagine how much work he could get done if he didn't need to sleep. Imagine!]

Squall, then, it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance. And of course. If you do go to the segments I'd recommend going with someone else so you have backup. They can be extremely dangerous, after all. If you can share anything you find as well, that would be most helpful. I'll do the same.

[... Ayato reminds him once again not to do something alone. But Squall isn't sure he can promise something like that. He's not sure he wants to put anyone else in danger if he runs into trouble. But at least he gives a quiet nod in acknowledgement. And says,]

I'll do that.

[Ayato's history lesson has earned him some of Squall's respect.]

Death is not permanent for us here, but I'm sure there are people who would be upset if it happened to you.

And they aren't quite the same, though some are certainly similar.
