🍷🎨

WHO: Kaveh, Shigeru, & YOU.
WHAT: Paint & Pour.
WHEN: April 2nd.
WHERE: Spring Segment, Prism Lake
WARNINGS: Drunk Painting.

[ kaveh decided to set up the paint & pour on the shores of prism lake, because a beautiful landscape seemed like something that artists of all skill level could enjoy creating. not to mention, it's also something that probably wouldn't suffer too much if/when guests inevitably started getting tispy. ]

[ there are three canopy tents framing the lake and, unsurprisingly, the first of which has all manner of art supplies: canvases, easels, and paints. the second has an assortment of delicious snacks made by shigeru and the third, final, and likely most anticipated has the wine. there are at least a dozen bottles, each labeled with the segment and shop it came from, because kaveh absolutely went around with the intention of helping them promote their business. ]

[ it's not a complete lie!
everybody wins!!
]

( ooc; feel free to assume that your character received an invitation from either kaveh or shigeru. it IS open to the public though, so if your character is strolling by and so much as makes eye contact with either of them, then they'll likely get dragged into the fun. anyway! bring your own top level~! )

I'll stick to reading. Painting has never been a leisurely activity for me.

[ Not when he lives with his biggest artistic critic. ]

[ Nor does he appear to be drinking so it really is 'why the hell is Alhaitham here'. ]

[ It Is A Mystery ]

Is that what you like to do during free time? Just read?

[ I mean. There's a good chance that Alhaitham has more than one hobby (bullying Kaveh), but Nen hasn't him do anything but bury his nose in his book. Nen used to know someone like that. ]

It is. I find it calming, and the knowledge to be gained from a good read can turn up to be useful when you least expect it.

[ Bullying Kaveh is a communal activity. ]

[ But Nen's assessment of Alhaitham is pretty spot on so far. A seemingly simple reading man... which lies very contrary to his appearance. ]

[ Bullying Kaveh: fun for the whole family!! Try bullying YOUR Kaveh today! ]

Yes! I understand that situation exactly. I read many books back in my world and it sometimes proves useful here. They were books on biology, chemistry, and medicine though. Their usefulness is niche as I am not a medical professional.
rudementary: (Evolve further.)

[ Just remember to give him reaffirming pats daily to keep him in good condition. ]

Oh? Do you have no interest in the field in spite of reading those?
essenceborn: (sippy sippy)

[ be as bully as you want...just remember to water with praise ]

I think those fields are fascinating...but I don't think I have enough time to become a licensed professional. That would take too long.

[ ...Of the time they assume they'll be alive, that is. Bio-experiment lyfe is sometimes fraught with much shorter lifespans. Nen would rather spend their time learning everything than just focus on one area of study. ]
rudementary: (This feeling makes me new.)

And you'd prefer not to be an unlicensed one?

[ Alhaitham at least had no qualms against the concept. There were a number of individuals who served as doctors and healers within Sumeru alone who never sought certification from the Akademiya or similar institutions. Each of them were perfectly capable of treating patients. ]
essenceborn: (what's that now)

[personal profile] essenceborn 2023-04-16 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
....Don't you need to be licensed to practice?

[ What is this notion of performing a job as an acting professional when you have not been officially certified??? Credentials have always been toted as the most important thing. Doors don't open unless you've got the right credentials.

Right?? ]
rudementary: (All the twists and turns.)

[personal profile] rudementary 2023-04-17 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, in most urban areas. However, there are plenty of rural, more remote locations where the notion of going somewhere simply to receive a scrap of paper isn't feasible. Should those lands abandon all hope of receiving medical assistance simply because of their location?

[ A title is just a title. Practice and experience paired with learning can be just as efficient, if not moreso in some cases. ]
essenceborn: (ara?)

[personal profile] essenceborn 2023-04-19 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
I...don't know. I thought everyone lived in cities. What is "rural"?

[ For someone who's spent their entire life living inside a research tower with the only view at their disposal one which overlooks a city...coming to Ellipsa was already pretty eye-opening. And now hes saying people actually go and live outside cities too?

Dunk, man. ]
rudementary: (Your eyes.)

[personal profile] rudementary 2023-04-19 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Alhaitham takes the other's questions in stride, freely willing to share the information he has. If he can expand someone else's knowledge base, why wouldn't he? ]

It's a term referring to countrysides rather than towns. One could typically associate it with farmlands. The equivalent here would be if individuals still resided within the abandoned farms in the spring segment, if you've been out to that area.

That's the one with all the flowers. I like that Segment a lot.

[ Nen goes to that segment and the winter segment the most. Just like flowers are a marvel to Nen, so is snow. It just wasn't around in their world. ]
rudementary: (Everything is being mixed.)

[personal profile] rudementary 2023-04-21 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
It's aesthetically pleasing to most.

[ He is clearly not quite as taken with the sights, but he can appreciate that... others appreciate them. ]

Places like that can often be quite far away from a city, too far for a city's doctor to be efficient. So they have their own healers within smaller towns to service them.
essenceborn: (pot calls kettle black news @ 11)

[personal profile] essenceborn 2023-04-21 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
I see... I understand. Travel to the city would take too long for anything urgent, so it is more convenient to have someone nearby who had the necessary knowledge, even if they lack the qualifications.
rudementary: (All the twists and turns.)

[personal profile] rudementary 2023-04-22 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
Precisely. If your goal is simply to apply your knowledge in a way that will help even a single person, a license isn't necessary. Simply grow your experience carefully.

[ This is the kind of stuff you want to hear from a scholar right. ]
essenceborn: (sippy sippy)

[personal profile] essenceborn 2023-04-22 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
Does that apply even if I live inside the city? I like the outdoors, but I do not want to live there.

[ absolutely 10/10 best advice. ]
rudementary: (This feeling makes me new.)

[personal profile] rudementary 2023-04-22 08:36 am (UTC)(link)
That would depend on how much of an importance your local laws place upon practicing without a license. Alternatively, your personal preference in operating above or below the table.

[ Thank you thank you he's here all night. ]
essenceborn: (it's my gold card)

[personal profile] essenceborn 2023-04-23 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know if my world had local laws.

Or laws.

[ ......... actually. ]

Does Ellipsa have laws?

[ That's something Nen should probably...know. ]
rudementary: (Reasons to construct you.)

[personal profile] rudementary 2023-04-23 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. There are some books in the library covering them.

[ Though perhaps not the most recent of recent laws, all things considered. ]
essenceborn: (ara?)

[personal profile] essenceborn 2023-04-23 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Which section would a law be under in Non-Fiction?

[ Nen is going to look at half these laws and wonder why the age limits and restrictions seem so over the place.......it's almost like people base these things on culture and society rather than objective fact??? Bizarre. ]
rudementary: (No contradiction.)

[personal profile] rudementary 2023-04-23 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Of course, Alhaitham is the kind of nerd who can take a free piece of paper and pencil and immediately scribble down the exact location, along with a small rough map to the spot from the entrance. ]

Here. These shelves should have all you need.
essenceborn: (Nothing Is Wrong Here)

[personal profile] essenceborn 2023-04-24 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
[ Of course he is.....and of course, Nen absolutely approves of that. Nerds are the most helpful when it comes to stuff like this. 5-star review on Yelp for Alhaitham. ]

Thank you... Oh, dip. You draw a map, too. Is this the library interior?

[ if it's drawn like a floor plan, Alhaitham gets even bigger bonus points. Nen might even look at him with ApprovalTM (sorry kaveh ur man's a keeper) ]
rudementary: (Suffused in me quietly.)

[personal profile] rudementary 2023-04-24 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
[ Thank you for your positive review, dear customer. ]

[ And it's absolutely a floor plan, what heathens aren't using floor plans. ]

Roughly, yes. The library organization system is different than I'm used to, so I thought it best to convey the exact location with a map instead.
essenceborn: (you lost the moment u entered these wood)

[personal profile] essenceborn 2023-04-24 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[ RIGHT....all these people using landmarks and non-floor maps are total heathens. Nen can't read a city map to save their life. ]

I like the way your critical thinking skills work, ........

[ ... ]

I don't know your name. I'm Nenonen.
rudementary: (Opportunities you've created.)

[personal profile] rudementary 2023-04-25 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
I believe it's merely common sense to use the most easily understandable method.

[ Is it easily understandable or is it just them. ]

It's Alhaitham. Let me know what the results of your medical-career pursuits are.

[ He admits, he's interested to see how this works out. ]
