🍷🎨
WHO: Kaveh, Shigeru, & YOU.
WHAT: Paint & Pour.
WHEN: April 2nd.
WHERE: Spring Segment, Prism Lake
WARNINGS: Drunk Painting.
[ kaveh decided to set up the paint & pour on the shores of prism lake, because a beautiful landscape seemed like something that artists of all skill level could enjoy creating. not to mention, it's also something that probably wouldn't suffer too much if/when guests inevitably started getting tispy. ]
[ there are three canopy tents framing the lake and, unsurprisingly, the first of which has all manner of art supplies: canvases, easels, and paints. the second has an assortment of delicious snacks made by shigeru and the third, final, and likely most anticipated has the wine. there are at least a dozen bottles, each labeled with the segment and shop it came from, because kaveh absolutely went around with the intention of helping them promote their business. ]
[it's not a complete lie!
everybody wins!! ]
( ooc; feel free to assume that your character received an invitation from either kaveh or shigeru. it IS open to the public though, so if your character is strolling by and so much as makes eye contact with either of them, then they'll likely get dragged into the fun. anyway! bring your own top level~! )

[ Given that Alhaitham has... eccentric tastes in decor himself, ones that Kaveh very loudly protests to every time he brings a piece home, this can only work out well. ]
[ The statue lives, Alhaitham tucking the book away as he gets up to walk over and see this masterpiece for himself. ]

There are fingerprints of pain all over the canvas where Nen has forgotten to clean their hands before touching it and their paint set-up is a mess, but by all account? Nen seems to be enjoying themself. ]
Here. This part's your head.
no subject
[ That is a sight. ]
[ And yet there is a hint of a smile? Smirk? Amusement at the very least coming from Alhaitham as he takes in the entire thing. ]
It's quite interesting.
no subject
Nen's seen enough smiles by now to know they're a positive reaction though, so they sit just a little bit straighter once they see the subtle twitch of his lips. ]
Thank-you. I think it's interesting too. I've never tried painting before.
[ Which is what Nen's technique definitely...suggests. But they're enthusiastic about it! And that is what matters. ]

I believe the general idea is to get your emotions and or thoughts on the canvas, and you seem to be achieving as much.

[ Duck Sense is still a kind of sense, don't sell yourself short Alhaitham!! You too can fingerpaint your way to greatness. ]
Are you going to paint tonight too? Or just read.
[ It's not a judging statement by any means; Nen's just genuinely curious, since the topic of this get-together is "paint & pour", not "read in the corner." ]
no subject
[ Not when he lives with his biggest artistic critic. ]
[ Nor does he appear to be drinking so it really is 'why the hell is Alhaitham here'. ]
no subject
Is that what you like to do during free time? Just read?
[ I mean. There's a good chance that Alhaitham has more than one hobby (bullying Kaveh), but Nen hasn't him do anything but bury his nose in his book. Nen used to know someone like that. ]
no subject
[ Bullying Kaveh is a communal activity. ]
[ But Nen's assessment of Alhaitham is pretty spot on so far. A seemingly simple reading man... which lies very contrary to his appearance. ]
no subject
Yes! I understand that situation exactly. I read many books back in my world and it sometimes proves useful here. They were books on biology, chemistry, and medicine though. Their usefulness is niche as I am not a medical professional.
no subject
Oh? Do you have no interest in the field in spite of reading those?
no subject
I think those fields are fascinating...but I don't think I have enough time to become a licensed professional. That would take too long.
[ ...Of the time they assume they'll be alive, that is. Bio-experiment lyfe is sometimes fraught with much shorter lifespans. Nen would rather spend their time learning everything than just focus on one area of study. ]

[ Alhaitham at least had no qualms against the concept. There were a number of individuals who served as doctors and healers within Sumeru alone who never sought certification from the Akademiya or similar institutions. Each of them were perfectly capable of treating patients. ]
no subject
[ What is this notion of performing a job as an acting professional when you have not been officially certified??? Credentials have always been toted as the most important thing. Doors don't open unless you've got the right credentials.
Right?? ]

[ A title is just a title. Practice and experience paired with learning can be just as efficient, if not moreso in some cases. ]

[ For someone who's spent their entire life living inside a research tower with the only view at their disposal one which overlooks a city...coming to Ellipsa was already pretty eye-opening. And now hes saying people actually go and live outside cities too?
Dunk, man. ]

It's a term referring to countrysides rather than towns. One could typically associate it with farmlands. The equivalent here would be if individuals still resided within the abandoned farms in the spring segment, if you've been out to that area.
no subject
[ Nen goes to that segment and the winter segment the most. Just like flowers are a marvel to Nen, so is snow. It just wasn't around in their world. ]
no subject
[ He is clearly not quite as taken with the sights, but he can appreciate that... others appreciate them. ]
Places like that can often be quite far away from a city, too far for a city's doctor to be efficient. So they have their own healers within smaller towns to service them.

[ This is the kind of stuff you want to hear from a scholar right. ]
no subject
[ absolutely 10/10 best advice. ]
no subject
[ Thank you thank you he's here all night. ]

Or laws.
[ ......... actually. ]
Does Ellipsa have laws?
[ That's something Nen should probably...know. ]
no subject
[ Though perhaps not the most recent of recent laws, all things considered. ]
