WHO: Kaveh, Shigeru, & YOU.
WHAT: Paint & Pour.

WHERE: Spring Segment, Prism Lake
WARNINGS: Drunk Painting.


[ kaveh decided to set up the paint & pour on the shores of prism lake, because a beautiful landscape seemed like something that artists of all skill level could enjoy creating. not to mention, it's also something that probably wouldn't suffer too much if/when guests inevitably started getting tispy. ]

[ there are three canopy tents framing the lake and, unsurprisingly, the first of which has all manner of art supplies: canvases, easels, and paints. the second has an assortment of delicious snacks made by shigeru and the third, final, and likely most anticipated has the wine. there are at least a dozen bottles, each labeled with the segment and shop it came from, because kaveh absolutely went around with the intention of helping them promote their business. ]

( ooc; feel free to assume that your character received an invitation from either kaveh or shigeru. it IS open to the public though, so if your character is strolling by and so much as makes eye contact with either of them, then they'll likely get dragged into the fun. anyway! bring your own top level~! )

{ since kaveh is well aware of the kamisato's involvement with the arts, perhaps it isn't a surprise that both of them turned up to the event. while many people have taken a seat to enjoy themselves painting alhaitham (which is understandable, to be fair) he has set up his own station to face the lake.

granted, he won't be recognisable by his outfit, instead turning up in something much more simple in design that hopefully won't be too much of a mistake when they're using paints here.

it's been years since he's had the time to actually enjoy anything outside calligraphy, where writing words perhaps takes less time and concentration than strokes to signify water with birds and flowers floating atop. yet, the moment he paints and he himself seems serene and relaxed.

he has a wine glass at his side, though by now it's mostly empty.

whoever approaches him gets a small laugh as he adds another stroke to the picture, marking a small boat onto the scene }

I'm a little rusty. { yet if they look at the picture... it almost looks professionally done in a style like so dskgj } But I suppose we have a chance to pick up old hobbies now we're here, don't we?

( Clearly, talent runs in the family! After admiring Ayaka's painting, Amber is now admiring Ayato's. What else is a tipsy Outrider to do while she's procrastinating on trying painting for herself? The Pyro user tilts her head with her jaw slack at the incredible artwork before her. Wow! )

Rusty?! If this is how you paint while rusty, then my painting skills aren't rusty, they're ... ( she contemplates what could be worse than 'rusty'-- ) ... Completely exploded! ( NO RUST. JUST EXPLODED. THAT'S THE BEST SHE COULD COME UP WITH ... )

Seriously! This is soooo beautiful. You're very talented.

{ they do have a bit of a knack for it, though brush work is very much a popular way to relax back home. }

Exploded is a rather interesting term to use for a skill level. Though a lot of it comes from patience and practice. { he did start as soon as he arrived and it's been a fair while--at least he's hoping that's why amber is so tipsy already.

and he doesn't seem to be trying to bask in the compliments, rather saying it for what it is. }

I definitely wish I had the time to dedicate to skills like painting. Most of my time back home gets spent within the Knights of Favonius, so my hobbies aren't ... too fleshed out. But I like sewing a lot!

Well, we aren't at home now are we? You could give it a try. { and honestly he isn't kidding that it's been a long while for him either, but he'd started with watercolours here because it's easier to get away with sloppier lines and letting things blend together rather than harsh strokes on paper. it was a smart choice. }

Ah? Is it clothes or other things you've sewn in the past?

[ kaveh seems relieved to see someone painting the intended scene, the lake, because as much as he can appreciate his boyfriend's chest he doesn't exactly seem to enjoy how much other people are appreciating it. is he jealous? definitely yes absolutely ...nnnnprobably. ]

A little rusty, he says. [ kaveh chuckles. ] I can't imagine what kind of masterpiece you'd put together once you get your groove back, but, yes, things here aren't nearly as hectic as back home. [ yet. ]

{ not everyone here is thirsty for your boyfriend, kaveh, don't worry. besides, the lake here is incredibly beautiful and ayato would much rather spend time painting a landscape than a person. }

I'd need to get my own materials for that, unless you're willing to offer these out more often?

[ and that delights him. kaveh did pick this spot that reason, so it's nice to see it getting the appreciation it deserves. if he brings alhaitham next time he's getting a jacket, so the landscape can take center stage. ]

It seems to have gone over well, so I certainly don't mind making this a regular thing. Perhaps next time we can move a segment over. It could be fun to paint & pour our way through each season.

It would offer a lot more variety, that's certainly true. Did you start something yourself, or have you been too busy playing host?

I have... [ he started drawing alhaitham. ] I haven't gotten much of a chance to work on it, since things have started getting busy... but I can show you what I have so far if you like?

Of course. I have an interest in your work after hearing so much already. Of course this likely differs, the fundamentals will surely be the same?

It's a basic sketch at the moment. Nothing special. [ he leads ayato over to his own canvas, where there's a b&w of alhaitham. ]

[ Rusty? With that painting? Either this guy is a perfectionist or has a terrible self-esteem. Saya's not bad with a paintbrush and she can't come close to that level of skill. ]

I think it looks wonderful. You really did it justice.

...But if painting more is something you want to do, there are some beautiful places here to practice at.

Oh? Did you have anywhere in particular in mind? I may consider it, though I suppose it may depend on the area they're in. Some of the ones that come to mind are in the segments and could be a little risky.

I was thinking the Segments, yes. But from the edge of the city you can look out onto them without much risk.

We have a house on the edge of Blossomcrown and the flowers are really lovely, for example.

That's certainly true, though sometimes it may not be quite the angle you were hoping for from a distance.

Oh? You managed to move out of the free apartments rather quickly. { he knows a lot of people arrived before he did, but even in those cases most have stuck to the free lodging for now. }

It might be some small bit of arrogance showing through in my assumptions. I don't hesitate to go out into the Segments, so perhaps I take it for granted. [ She's a bit sheepish, albeit in a demure way. ]

There are five of us, so pooling our money allowed us to move out there right away. We were all in the same place before this, so being separated wasn't ideal. [ They have to cling to each other now that they get the choice. ]

Ah... That may explain it, certainly. Not all the areas are quite so bad, of course. Others are definitely more difficult to deal with.

though--something in what she says rings a bell with something lumine said before. it doesn't seem like a common number to share a house with four other people, especially from the same place as before-- }

Are you one of the people living with Lumine?

That's right. She and I met in the last place we were. We shared a unit -- which is sort of like an assigned family.

[ A bit of a loaded topic but Saya says it lightly enough. Tokyo-F was not a good time. ]

I suppose you're another one from Teyvat. There are a lot of you here.

[ Ayato being so modest. ] Old or new hobbies...this place allows us to do all of that, doesn't it? Finding other people that like to draw is exciting. Back home not many people would like to draw with me, so I'm glad other artists could come together and enjoy doing this with one another!

[ Is what Shigeru types and holds out for Ayato to read with a bright smile on his face. Once the other is done he'll take his device back before typing something on it again. ]

though he has to lean a little to read the text, ensuring he pays attention to the words on the screen before his eyes flicker back to shigeru. interesting that he's using the phone to 'speak', though he'll be delicate enough to not ask why outright. }

Kamisato Ayato, it's a pleasure. And as for drawing and painting, it seems there's a big enough community here more meetings like this could be arranged as well. I imagine it would gain plenty of support.

You really think so? Well, Kaveh seemed to enjoy arranging everything. I just brought the snacks and food. It's easier to tell people by word of mouth than through text sometimes.

But I'm really glad so many people showed up! You must be friends of his then, right?

I think a lot of people are finding they have more time for hobbies here, so it certainly wouldn't hurt. Besides, it's a good boost for morale to have events focused on wellbeing.

{ spending time with people and developing artistry skills is definitely one good way to do it. }

Perhaps going forward we'll be able to find ways to fund it as well. I imagine the supplies didn't come cheap. Friends is likely the best way to put it though, yes. We hadn't met until we were here, however, despite being from the same world originally.

Having people come together and be social is a good thing too! Especially for those of us who are not the best at it.

Funding shouldn't be a problem! They pay pretty well at the clinic; and once I open my own, things should be easier to manage. But it's really interesting to see so many people from one place here...

That I can see. { it's said with some amusement. there's a few wallflowers here, after all. clinging to the shadows and out of the way. kaveh certainly knows how to get his way. }

And even so, if people are at a gathering to use them, is it not fair to accept some form of contribution going forward? Imagine if more people come next time, it would certainly be incredibly lively.
