[Mike shakes as he waits for what feels like an eternity. His hope dwindling down as nothing immediately happens. His son is gone. He failed him. He should have been here sooner and done something different. He should have tries anything else, focused on Katsuki first, just done anything differently and this wouldn't be happening!

The sputtering cough and gasps break his stupor and he watches with wide blue eyes. He sees the red and the slit pupils but it doesn't fully realize what it means. All he knows is his son is alive!]

Katsuki? [Can he hear him? Can he understand? Then the blond is lunging at him and Mike's defenses are not primed. He is slammed back into the cement on the ground as he feels sharp fangs pierce his neck! Yet no burst of pleasure comes from this bite. He hisses at the pain as the realization that his son is going to feed on him hits.]

You don't...ever get a nice...bite...fuck this...blows... [He chokes out a small complaint but doesn't try to stop Katsuki. He gently grabs his shoulders but he lets him drink. He needs this if he is what he thinks he is now. Which he has to be given the fact this is happening at all.]

It's okay. I-It's okay. Dad's here. Take what you need. [Is he going to die next? He doesn't know but he's never died before. Would this be the first time? Somewhere above them, a bolt is worn with age, and it starts to crack. It holds the ladder on the fire escape over their heads. A small metallic squeaking is the only hint of what is suddenly happening above them.]

[Katsuki's body is completely moving on it's own as he feeds. Needing sustenance from anyone-- not caring that Mike had just tried to save his life only moments before. His vampire instincts just tell him to eat and eat, until he feels satisfied. Until he's full of energy again. He'd lost so much blood, after all... he needs to get it back somehow.

He's completely unaware to the creaking above. Of the ladder who's last bolt keeping it together was falling apart. He's completely unaware... until it cracks. And the ladder falls on a path that's directly going for the two. And just as it moves on it's own to feed it's vampire instincts, Katsuki's body also moves in response to his Hero instincts.

In a flash, he lets go of Mike and blows off an explosion that splits the ladder right in half. The two halves falling to land just inches away from the two of them. And Katsuki stands over Mike perfectly still afterwards. His eyes look from the ladder, to the man below him. And then it's like something finally clicks.]

...M.. Mike?

[He recognizes him, but his memory is so fuzzy. He kneels down next to Mike and looks at him with wide, confused eyes. Glowing much brighter now that he's been fed, a bit. Mike's blood dripping down his chin and staining his clothes along with his own.]

Dad?

[He was still hungry, but not enough to attack again. He didn't take nearly enough from Mike.. but that's a problem for him to figure out, later. Right now, his brain was trying to process what happened. Why Mike was injured. And why his mouth tasted... like blood.]

[The ladder's sacrifice is noble. It is blown to pieces but Mike isn't being drained anymore. He moves his hand to his neck and groans. Shadows fill the voids in the flesh to stop the bleeding and keep the blood where it belongs, inside. He groans from the slight lightheaded feeling but he isn't too bad off. Seems the processed worked, for better or for ill. He looks up at his boy, glowing red eyes staring into his steely blue. He puts on a weak smile though.]

Hey...you're back Kitkat. Just...give me a minute. Not as spry as I used to be when it comes to the blood loss as I was when I was a young man. How are you feeling?

[Leave it to this man to be more concerned about how his son is feeling than his own possible danger from said son.]

[Katsuki watches as Mike's hand reaches up to his neck to clot the wounds, and seeing the two fang holes there has him reach to gently touch over the wound on his own neck. Two holes... right. Right. Right... That thing. That creature that had bit onto his neck did it--- it got Mike?]

I... a-are you okay? Did-- did you get bit, too?

[Now his clawed hand reaches out to touch at Mike's injury. Very carefully, he brushes the pads of his fingers against the closed wound and the sight of the still wet blood that smears makes him lick his lips. His stomach growls. And the sight of those claws coupled with the sudden impulse to lick Mike's wound has his addled brain starting to piece together to him what happened... but even if it's so obvious-- he doesn't want to accept it, yet.

He instead just looks at Mike with fearful eyes. Both scared for what had happened to Mike, and scared of what had happened to himself. And... scared that this hunger for his dad's blood meant what he thought it meant.]

[Mike can practically see the gears turning in Bakugo's mind. He slowly pushes himself up. He gently touches Bakugo's hands.]

It's going to be okay. I'm alright. I did get bit but not nearly as bad as you. Stay with me, Kitkat. Okay? We'll get through this. We should get inside though. In case there are more of those things around. Yeah?

[It's nearly impossible for Katsuki to just say "okay!" and move along. The gears are turning and they're turning fast, and he slowly takes his hand back from Mike to look at those claws closely. Noticing that his skin was a shade lighter, as well.]

...w-why do I have claws..?

[Mike is right in that they should get inside, and he knows in the back of his mind that they need to. It's dangerous to sit around-- another one of those creatures could find them and in both of their states that would be no good. But as he looks at the mangled corpse of the vampire that had attacked him, it starts to settle in properly. The fact that he can see the corpse so well in the dark was another indicator, too.]

...that's... th-that's a vampire. Isn't it? And it... i-it bit me. Really bad.

[And in the usual lore, when you're bit by a vampire and you don't die from it, that can only mean one thing.

To check, Katsuki raises his shaking hand to his mouth. He touches at his teeth, and feels that his slightly sharp canines were extremely sharp now. It pricks his finger when he presses on the tip of one of them, and that's the last bit of information he needs to know that he...

He's been turned.]

..l..let's go.

[He doesn't want to face it yet. So he'll rapidly switch gears, so fast that it's like whiplash when he gets to his feet and tugs at Mike to get up with him.

Mike is hurt, and they need to find somewhere safe. He'll focus on that.]

We'll talk about it when we get inside, okay?

[Katsuki isn't stupid. Mike knows his boy is smart and sharp as a tack. He stands on slightly shaky legs and gently takes one of those clawed hands and leads him back towards Todoroki's home. They need to get inside and get somewhere safe. They can talk and process everything that just happened after. Well start processing.

Being a vampire isn't something one just processes and is fine with. He knows that much about all of this.]

No matter what, you are still you. I want you to remember that. You're still you, Kitkat.

[It'll take a bit to get to Shoto's home, as they live in Sunwaning and are currently more in the middle of Nightwake. But Katsuki will follow after with his one clawed hand holding onto Mike's tightly, either way. They could always find a business or something that's open on the way there, if they need somewhere sooner. Surely there are places open for people to take refuge...]

...I-I'm still... me.

[Katsuki repeats that, but his voice sounds so distant. Like he barely understands what he just said, because his thoughts are elsewhere. Trapped in a swirling storm of mixed emotions as he starts to process bit by bit that he had been attacked, and he had been turned. And this hunger he's feeling definitely wasn't for curry, like it would be normally.]

I.. I don't feel good. I don't like this.

["This" meaning the new reality that's settling in like food poisoning. Making Katsuki's stomach feel like cold, nauseas ice. He can't find any other words to properly describe how he's feeling at the moment, either. His brain was so overflowed with thoughts and fears that barely any words come to the front of his mind, right now.]

[Mike walks with Katsuki through the dark streets. He could just teleport them but right now his son doesn't need the shock of that on top of everything else. So they'll walk the way to Sunwaning and maybe find a taxi or a flying bus they can take. Or find some place to take refuge. Though there is something else too they'll need.

More blood. Well, with the rioting, Katsuki eating a criminal won't be so bad. And they can always work on controlled feeding. Thank god he's dated a recently turned vampire before.]

I know. It isn't something to like. It's a big change. But it doesn't change who you are. It's...like a status effect in a video game. It...might be permanent but it might not be. ...You are going to need to feed, Kitkat. You need to feed often. Keep yourself full. That way you never have to drink too much, you won't hurt people if you do it like that.

[Katsuki can't help it when big tears start to spill over his cheeks, as he listens to Mike explain to him about his new change. It's easy to just... talk about it like that when it's not happening to you, Katsuki thinks. It's easy to just say "you're going to need to feed" when you're not the one who needs to swap ramen and ice cream for human blood.]

I-- I don't want to.

[Katsuki shakes his head, and pulls his hand out of Mike's grip. Stopping in his tracks as he reaches to wipe at his tears.]

I--I won't! I won't do it! I'm supposed to be a Hero, goddammit! Heroes don't-- we don't hurt other people unless we have to!

[As everything sinks in properly, Katsuki starts to yell. Angry, desperate yelling as he lowers his hand and grips at the front of his shirt with his claws. Tearing holes right into the skull printed on the front.]

How the hell am I supposed to call myself a Hero if I'm going around hunting humans down like prey?! Huh?!! Vampires are Villains! I'm-- I can't be a Villain!

I won't...!

[Mike hates seeing him start to cry. He wants to brush the tears away but Katsuki is already doing that with his new clawed fingers. His heart breaks hearing the way he refuses to listen and feed. He knows it is so much easier for him to say than for Katsuki to hear or even think about but it is a reality. One that is crashing down on his son and threatening to rob him of his greatest dream and his life's purpose.]

Son, not all vampires are villains. There are good vampires too. Just like there are bad ones. You don't have to hunt people to feed.

You can talk to people. You could ask if those you know and are close too would be willing to feed you from time to time. We can see about bagged blood and how that'll work. Or even animal blood.

There are options. ...But refusing to eat is what is going to get you to hurt someone really bad. Refusing to eat is going to let the hunger take over. It won't be you. It'll be like some animal wearing your skin and all you can do is watch as it chooses the blood instead.

[Katsuki doesn't want to listen to Mike, but he has to. He has to because everything Mike says is true, and whether he likes it or not... it'll be worse for him mentally if he ends up snapping and killing somebody. The logic of the situation douses his angry flames almost instantly.

And maybe he's right that there's good vampires. Maybe he's right that they won't have to hunt people down. But right now? He can't accept any of that as possibilities. He just feels... awful. Horrible. Evil.]

...I.. I won't let it take over.

[He says that, but he sounds absolutely defeated. He can't get away from this new fate of blood drinking, and he knows this. As much as he wants to kick and scream and refuse like a petulant child-- he can't.]

I don't want to hurt anybody.

[He'll feed, is what he's saying. He's giving up.]

I know this isn't easy. But I'm going to be here with you. I'm going to help you in every way I can. I promise.

[Mike gently takes Katsuki's hand and starts to lead him through the dark streets again, if he'll let him.]

I know you don't. And I believe in you. I think you can do this and never hurt anyone. If anyone can do that, it's you, Kitkat.

[Katsuki will let him, but he follows with his head firmly down. Walking slowly, and unable to look anywhere but at his feet. It just feels so... hopeless. And he feels helpless. Even with his dad here to help him every step of the way, as he promises, it's hard not to feel like everything was just... over.

But he'll, at the very least, try not to let it get to him that deeply. He tries to distract his deeper, darker thoughts by listening to what Mike says. How he has the upmost faith in Katsuki to figure out a way to be this monster without having to seriously injure anyone.

Katsuki is still unaware that he was the one who bit Mike, so he at least can feel as though he has a fighting chance. At being a good Vampire, and not one that hunts innocent people down for snacks.]

...why do you keep calling me "Kitkat"?

[Katsuki asks that, as it's a great distraction while they find someone for him to feed off of.]
