No, fun was not a factor. The researchers in my world were hoping to create humans capable of withstanding high levels of Essence without suffering adverse effects. Although I fulfilled some of the conditions...it was not enough to satisfy their requirements and I was considered a failure in that regard.

[ Mainly what the scientists were looking for was a way to give humans the abilities Essence grants (increased strength/stamina/telekinesis) without the, er...drawbacks (going crazy & dissolving into goo). None of the Test Subjects they created had any special abilities, thus: failures. ]
