( Ko doesn't necessarily need allegiance to "his" season, does he? The Autumn districts seem far more up his alley than Summer. Displaced from his familiar home he may be, the notion of exploring such a place is still pretty exciting.

He just wishes he had those closest with him to share it with.

Ko finds himself with a wealth of books in the library; maybe a bit too much for his tiny frame. Putting them on a table, he gets to poring through the nearest book. There's quite a bit of purpose in his movements, the way he scans the texts ...

( Having only been here for a little while, Ko finds himself alone. Atrociously alone, and in a place where touch keeps one going. The prospect of turning to stone is a little frightening; who would be there to save him?

He'll have to figure out something quickly.

As his joints lock up on his way back home, he seems to panic a little where he stands. )

( Sometimes its fine to act how people think he should. How they have him pegged. Not out of any resignation to those notions, but rather because it just happens to be what he'd like to do. People peg him as a rough gutterpunk, which is true. They also figure, sometimes, that he's a guy who likes to gamble.

Pachinko is his favorite, but sometimes the other stuff is decent too. In a place like this, he gravitates towards the familiarity of the underground as opposed to the magic and wonder of the rest of the joint.

Playing roulette is as close as he can get here, it seems; the cackle he lets out when he wins is loud and maybe a little wild. )

[Evangeline's not used to beaches as a place where people hang out and relax - she made her first sandcastle in Ellipsa this year. So when she sees someone being buried in sand, she doesn't know what to make of it.

...It's Ellipsa, so this probably isn't an overly elaborate method of leaving someone to die.]

( This is a tiny bit embarrassing! Especially in front of someone he recognizes a bit. He goes to say something else, but he's cut off mid, "can you help" since his jaw decides to lock up right at that moment as well. )

[She goes to start digging him out of the sand by hand. Naturally, that means her hand will bump his neck a couple times just by accident. It counts!]

( Naturally, he can't say much in the first few moments she takes to kindly begin to dig him out. But as she works, even the brief contact does the trick. He's able to speak after a little. )

Thank you ... jumping into saving someone like that is ... commendable.

( With his shoulders and then upper arms freed, he can start to move to dislodge the tightly-packed sand enough to free the rest of himself. He ends up laying on the sand face down at the effort it takes. )

I ... appreciate it ... thank you again. I thought I was a goner.

[Once he's free and lying down, she gently pats his shoulder, reassuring.]

It's really nothing worth thanking me for? It's not like it was a big sacrifice on my part or anything.

[Sure, she might have some sand under her nails now, but that's not a huge deal.]

[Not to worry, Ko - the police is here to help! Granted, Hijikata isn't on duty; as a matter of fact he's on his way home too, but regardless, seeing the young man freeze up in place makes him stop to check on him.]

[Hearing him shout across the store startles Frieda. She looks around, trying to find "the gorgeous one"... but then, the man walks up to her! At his question, she gives him a stupefied blink.]

What? I mean-- thank you, but I'm fine..!

[Granted, the fancy shoes she's trying on do not match her simple outfit consisting of a plain long skirt and white blouse, but they're not meant for everyday wear! She just would have felt self-conscious wearing her one and only designer dress out and about during the daytime!]

( Miku and Rabies are taking to exploring a bit. This place is so unlike Shiokawa and its little village and all the creepy places around and outside it that its almost like she can't get enough of it. Not to mention the time she comes from is in Japan in the mid-eighties.

After a little while of kickin' around Nightwake, Miku is feeding Rabies some scraps of her sandwich, taken from a vending machine. )

D'you know how to steal shit, Rabies? ... I guess you wouldn't wanna, huh. Are you a little work-slave too?

( Rabies makes a 'boof' noise in response. )

( This place is exciting and all, but Miku can't exactly escape her curse. It activates, the sigils and markings below her left eye lighting up and glowing in a strange color.

This time, however, she doesn't recognize it for what it is. Sometimes its a toss up like that; whether she's cognizant of what's going on or not. )

( Miku whips around to shout at someone who happens to have been behind her. Rabies paws at her leg. )

( This is ... embarrassing for him, to say the very least. He's trying to get moving again, but there's nothing doing no matter how hard he wills his legs to move.

But still, he offers a slight smile to Hijikata, though he appears a little flustered. )

I just seem to have, ah ... frozen up.

( Then he adds, with a bit of a sardonic tone: )

I don't suppose you have some touch to spare?
